Manitowoc has updated its free diagnostic app to include Crane Control System (CCS)-equipped Potain tower cranes, helping operators to interpret diagnostic codes generated by on-board control systems and reduce machine downtime.
The app already supports many Grove, Manitowoc and National Crane cranes.
“This new functionality is another step in actively improving our digital tools and expanding our offering to provide customers with easy-to-use and valuable tools for a better user experience with our products,” says John Alexander, Director of Service, Training and Telematics at Manitowoc.
The diagnostic app increases crane uptime by enabling customers to diagnose technical issues without third-party assistance, leading to faster repairs and maintenance.
Manitowoc claims to have been the first manufacturer in the crane industry to release an app of this kind back in 2018.
Diagnostic tool kit
Manitowoc has also released a new wireless pressure transducer test kit to measure and record hydraulic pressures on all crane systems without the use of cumbersome hoses. The kit communicates wirelessly via Bluetooth with a smartphone app and comes with two transducers fitted with Stauff pressure test connectors and two transducers fitted with Parker quick disconnect connectors. Also included in the kit are a #4 and #6 SAE J1453 ORFS adapter and two spare batteries.
A data logging option allows users to quickly download and email the data collected.
The wireless pressure transducer test kit may be purchased through a Manitowoc Crane Care representative. The smartphone apps are available for free in both the App Store (Apple) and Google Play (Android) by searching for ‘Manitowoc Diagnostic Code App’, and ‘Manitowoc Pressure Transducers’.
New cranes
Among the newest cranes added to the Manitowoc portfolio is the Potain MCT 275, which further expands its popular MCT range of topless cranes built in China.
As with other cranes in the range, the MCT 275 delivers easier transport and assembly, plus high efficiency and reliability on construction projects. This new model has taken advantage of the advances and innovation Manitowoc made with the introduction of the MCT 325 and was largely been inspired by it.
Available in two versions, the MCT 275 offers jib length configurations from 30 m up to an impressive 70 m, in increments of 5 m. At its 70-m jib end, the MCT 275 can handle 2.3 tonnes for the 10-tonne version and 2.2 tonnes for the 12-tonne version, making it one of the best-in-class performers for long-distance lifting.
“With the increasing popularity of precast concrete construction, topless cranes like the MCT 275 are becoming the go-to solution for the speed and simplicity they bring to job sites,” says Kwong-Joon Leong, Regional Product Manager – Tower Cranes, Manitowoc. “The topless design allows multiple units to overlap on site and with the MCT 275, we’re giving customers a new choice in the 10-tonne and 12-tonne range. With its standout 70-m jib, we believe this crane will appeal to a wide range of companies and projects.”
On a well-prepared site, the MCT 275 can be set up within 1.5 days, with the full jib and counter-jib erected in four lifts. The complete upper part of the crane can be transported in six containers.
The MCT 275 is designed to work with the 2 m x 2 m L68 mast systems and can be utilised with fixing angles on a regular high-rise construction project. Users can also assemble the crane in an internal climbing configuration or mounted on a chassis, for maximum versatility.
As with all Potain cranes, customers have a variety of options for the hoisting, slewing and trolley mechanisms. The 10-tonne version offers the 60 LVF25 as standard and the 75 HPL25 as option, while the 12-tonne version offers the 75 LVFC30 as standard and the 75 HPL30 as options. The 60 LVF 25 is a 45 kW-rated hoist that offers a rope capacity of 500 m and can lift 2.5 tonnes at up to 88 m/minute. The 75 HPL25 is a 55 kW-rated hoist that offers a rope capacity of 834 m and can lift 0.35 tonnes at up to 215 m/minute. The 75 LVFC30 is a 55 kW-rated hoist that offers a rope capacity of 766 m and can lift 1.5 tonnes at up to 114 m/minutes. The 75 HPL30 is a 55 kW-rated hoist that offers a rope capacity of 845 m and can lift 0.2 tonne at up to 220 m/minute.
