Smart water metering systems supplied by leading building and construction solutions provider Mac Al Gurg were recently selected for a major Federal Electricity and Water Authority (Fewa) project in the UAE.
“This Fewa deal is the largest single order received by Mac Al Gurg since its inception in 1974,” Nicholas Papadopoulos, General Manager of the Dubai-based ESAG Building Materials Division (BMD), tells Gulf Construction. “The company is rightly proud of it and of its association with Diehl Metering – one of the leading global companies in this field.”
Mac Al Gurg is one of the three entities under ESAG BMD, which is part of Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, a well-respected UAE conglomerate comprising 27 companies with a portfolio of over 370 international brands.
The Fewa order, which was secured by Mac Al Gurg in July, involves the supply of 127,500 units of ½-inch Mbus wired ultrasonic smart water meters from Diehl Metering. These meters, which are at the cutting edge of technologies in this area, will be supplied to Fewa over a period of five years, Papadopoulos says.
Papadopoulos attributes the company’s success in securing this major order to its brand equity, sales and after-sales support, customer service, association with reliable and reputable manufacturers such as Diehl Metering and its high level of technical expertise.
Diehl Metering systems have also been installed in the City of Kalba, Sharjah, following their approval by Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa).
Diehl Metering is a corporate division of the Germany-headquartered Diehl Group and supplies solutions for the intelligent use of water, thermal energy, gas and electricity. It provides smart metering solutions to utility companies through the intelligent networking of various metering devices into larger data platforms.
Diehl Metering solutions offer transparency for utilities and municipalities, and enable considerably increased efficiency in reading, billing and service processes. Its customers are also able to benefit from real-time effects such as early recognition of leaks and the optimisation of distribution networks through intelligent information regarding prompt adjustment of the offer to suit actual needs.
“With Diehl Metering, you are perfectly equipped for smart metering which is an important component of sustainable smart city concepts,” Papadopoulos remarks.
