Bonaldo unveils its Frames of Living
With its new Update 2021 catalogue titled “Frames of Living”, Bonaldo continues to interpret the home environment through a coordinated furniture programme which creates links and interactions between different spaces.
“In the B/style vision, each room is conceived as if it were a frame where Bonaldo’s furnishing elements coexist in a natural way, creating a unique design harmony,” says a spokesman for the Italian furniture manufacturer. “From the living area to the dining and bedroom areas, every single object is an integral part of the space.”
The 2021 Bonaldo collection offers a complete range of furnishing elements – tables and chairs, beds and sofas through to accessories – “which express the continuous design research and Bonaldo’s ability of producing the styles of the designers who created them resonate as if playing together in an orchestra. Different colours, lights, materials and finishes are combined under a single coordinated image,” says the spokesman.
Among the innovations, the Saddle bed family has been expanded with the new Saddle bed hi version with an even higher headboard. A distinctive feature of this bed collection is the headboard which, by folding in on itself, resembles the shape of a saddle, hence the name of the family designed by Giuseppe Viganò. The headboard features quilting and an elegant leather insert, allowing for a unique interplay of materials and combinations that create a pleasing visual effect and highlights the attention to detail. The bed is also available with storage.
The collection is completed by the Saddle bench with a shaped foot.
Pine-ing for global attention
Vaarnii, a pioneering new furniture brand, is hoping to define a new design vernacular for Finland with its global launch at London Design Festival next month (September).
The company combines Finland’s furniture-making tradition and cultural values to create bold, contemporary designs with international appeal.
Comprising 12 designs, its launch collection features furniture and home accessories by notable designers all made exclusively from wild-grown Finnish pine and produced exclusively by Finnish makers.
Pine, which was popular as a furniture material in the 1990s, has since been overlooked in favour of hardwoods. Now, as devotees of its distinctive grain, the character it acquires over time, and the fact it doesn’t crack like many other woods, Vaarnii wants to bring it back and reinvent it for the modern age – in its full, all-natural, unlacquered glory. Pine is the starting point for future collections celebrating other single materials in the years to come.
“Robust, functional, and materially honest to the point of stridency, the designs combine brutality of form with sophistication and attention to detail,” says a spokesman for the company.
New Crate & Kids range focuses on health, wellbeing
With the focus being on health and well-being, the latest collections from Crate & Kids will bring a new lease of life to nurseries, play areas and children’s rooms across the region, according to the homeware brand owned and operated by Majid Al Futtaim in the UAE.
Sized down yet still effortlessly stylish, the furniture, décor and more at Crate & Kids has been designed especially for little ones.
“The Spring-Summer Collection from Crate & Kids foregrounds creativity, personality and peace of mind,” says a spokesman for the company. “As the homeware category shifts gears with a priority on health and wellbeing, GOTS-certified organic cotton and Greenguard Gold-certified furniture meet rigorous testing.”
Every item from Crate & Kids’ new ranges of furniture, textiles and accessories can be mixed and matched.
These include travel-themed bedding – made with 100 per cent organic materials; pastel-coloured sheets that take aspiring globetrotters to Peru; Mount Everest-inspired layers; and bold, floral patterns. Each range is designed specifically to cater to the needs of growing families.
