European sanitary solutions provider Geberit has enhanced its iCon series of Rimfree WCs (water closets) by incorporating a newly-developed flush guide made of recycled plastic which ensures reliable and hygienic flushing. Among other innovative features, these new WCs now have seats that can be easily removed to facilitate cleaning and can be quickly and securely installed on walls, thanks to EFF3 (Easy Fast Fixation) fastening technology.
This apart, Geberit will this year expand its iCon Rimfree WCs portfolio with a wall-hung and a compact floor-standing WC, which will be complemented by bidets in a new, sleek look and with added sitting comfort.
Geberit’s Rimfree WCs combine the company’s know-how in plastics processing, ceramic appliances and flow engineering perfectly to ensure excellent flushing performance. A new inner geometry of the ceramic appliance and the new flush guide optimise the hydraulics of the WCs, according to Ahmed ElRemeily, Geberit’s Product Manager Ceramics for the Gulf Region.
Elaborating on the new flush guide, he says: “The new flush guide precisely controls the water flowing from the cistern into the WC, ensuring powerful cleaning inside it. Made of recycled plastic, namely an ABS regranulate, the flush guide is now connected directly to the inlet. In this way, it directs the water into the WC pan without coming into contact with the ceramic appliance. This compensates the tolerances in the production process of the ceramic appliance in the kiln during which the ceramic shrinks while it is still moist, resulting in the inner ceramic and water guide varying with each WC. The water supply through the plastic pipe and the new flush guide compensate the tolerances that are common in ceramic production, as the water flow does not come into contact with the ceramic appliance until it enters the WC pan.”
The Geberit cistern, the ceramic design and the flush guide precisely mounted in the ceramic appliance thus ensure consistently optimal flushing. In addition, the ceramic outlets of the new iCon WCs and bidets extend to the wall to allow the standard PE connection piece to be used for connection to the discharge pipe.
No flush rim, improved cleanliness
“Geberit iCon Rimfree WCs are completely rimless, meaning no dirt is hidden and they can be cleaned in the blink of an eye,” remarks ElRemeily.
In the absence of a flush rim, the Rimfree WCs of the Geberit iCon bathroom series can be cleaned easily and conveniently. As there is no rim, groove or gap to interfere with the seamless cleaning of the ceramic, dirt is easily accessible and ceramic appliances are cleaned swiftly. At the same time, the optimised flushing system guarantees thorough flushing.
WC seat: detach and clean
While their rimless design facilitates cleaning of these WCs, to ensure hygiene under and around the WC seats, these seats are now fitted with QuickRelease, which means the seat can be easily detached and clipped back on with a flick of the wrist.
“To do this, simply lift the WC seat ring and lid to a 90-degree angle and pull them off. Once removed, the WC ceramic appliance and the WC seat can be cleaned with utmost convenience. The WC lid and seat ring are then clipped back on. To prevent vandalism in public or semi-public facilities, the QuickRelease can be locked by tightening a screw in the hinge,” ElRemeily explains.
Quick and secure mounting
The new Geberit iCon Rimfree WCs and bidets are mounted quickly and securely on walls with the new EFF3 fastening technology, which simplifies the work of sanitary professionals.
With the EFF3, the ceramic appliances of the iCon Rimfree WCs and bidets are mounted on the wall in just a few simple steps. Special nuts are first screwed onto two conventional threaded rods. The ceramic appliance with pre-mounted wall fixing can then be pushed onto these rods and up to the wall. The ceramic appliance is fully fixed through two holes in it that serve to fasten the WC seat. This means that it is no longer necessary to tighten both bolts at the same time in order to avoid cracks in the ceramic. The bolts are tightened by means of a specially developed deflection gear with optimised power transmission, which makes it possible to mount the ceramics tight consistently.
The final fixing is then made with an Allen key through the two holes in the ceramic used to fasten the WC seat – which allows the WC and bidet to be fixed to the wall in a concealed manner without any disturbing fixing holes, ElRemeily adds.
The connecting pins supplied are screwed onto the threaded rods, and the WC or the bidet with the pre-mounted EFF3 fixing technology (angle gear) is pushed up to the wall and securely fixed to the wall.
In addition, the WC seat can be easily and securely mounted, aligned and put into the exact position, with the EasyMount hinges, all without having to detach it again. The WC seat is tightened in its final position using a hexagon key with the lid open.
