International exhibitions company dmg events has signed a strategic partnership with Qatar-based NeXTfairs to run The Big 5 Construct Qatar and Index Design Qatar in the Gulf state in 2023.
Scheduled to take place from September 25 to 27 next year, this represents the latest move in dmg events’ regional portfolio expansion strategy. The return of these two internationally recognised dmg flagship events to Qatar also marks the birth of a long-term alliance with local event organiser NeXTfairs.
The co-located Big 5 Construct Qatar and Index Design Qatar shows will connect essential suppliers and trade buyers committed to Qatar’s infrastructure development, and offer both a thought leadership knowledge platform and face-to-face business and networking opportunities.
The Big 5 series of events, first launched in Dubai in 1991, have since been held in Saudi Arabia and Qatar, and have been welcoming thousands of trade visitors annually. Index Dubai is the largest international interior and fit-out trade show in the Mena region, connecting the world's leading brands and manufacturers with regional hospitality, residential, commercial, and retail buyers. This year’s Index ended drew 22,000 visitors across its co-located shows held in Dubai in late May.
Index 2022 featured extraordinary design installations from some of the best talent in the region, including “State of Mind” designed by ODG Design and built by depa and Stretch Ceilings and “Serenity Pool” designed by Kristina Zanic Consultants and built by Bond Interiors.
Elaine O’Connell, Vice President of Design & Hospitality at dmg events, said: “We are extremely pleased to have welcomed so many visitors from around the world, with 21 per cent of visitors attending Index coming from overseas, while 79 per cent came from the Middle East region, as we start to return to face-to-face events.”
The Index Design Talks conference, The Work Design Summit and the new Retail Leadership Forum, brought together the leaders and thinkers of the industry for a series of live debates and discussions on important design-focused topics which saw a large turnout of attendees.
Index is set to return to Dubai next year from May 23 to 25.
