After harmonising the global nomenclature of its all-terrain cranes (AC) and lattice boom crawler cranes (CC) last year, Tadano is continuing its OneTadano strategy by announcing a global harmonisation of the nomenclature of its telescopic boom crawler cranes (GTC).
In line with this, all its GTC crane model names worldwide will be harmonised with the nomenclature used in the American market.
As part of this move, the Tadano GTC-1800EX is now known as the GTC-2000. This telescopic boom crawler crane, which has been recognised as a powerful representative of its capacity class, will be showcased at bauma in Munich, Germany, this month (October 24 to 30).
Due to the tremendous success and positive customer feedback, Tadano has also announced that it will be upgrading the crane to the 200-tonne class.
“Customers kept telling us that their experience in the field showed that in several configurations, the GTC 1800EX had a performance potential that far exceeded its class,” states Vincent Stenger, Product Manager. “Therefore, we have renamed the model to the GTC-2000 for all markets to better align with the crane’s lifting capacities.”
“The extremely versatile crane is popular with customers worldwide, and the high demand it generated ensured that the model would become an immediate success for Tadano the moment it became available in November 2020,” he adds.
One of the largest telescopic boom crawler cranes in the market, the GTC-2000 offers fully self-rigging operation and a powerful maximum load moment of 585 tonne-metres (tm). With its strong load chart and lifting capabilities, the GTC-2000 offers the lifting capacity of 200-tonne class cranes in multiple configurations.
For existing GTC-1800EX models in the field, Tadano will offer customers a kit to upgrade these cranes to the GTC-2000. The field kit comes complete with upgraded software that provides also new load charts for 0- and 180-degree operation. It also includes new crane documentation, manuals, decals and nameplate.
Meanwhile, the following model nomenclature updates for products sold outside the American market will take place this year: The Tadano GTC-350EX will change to GTC-350; GTC-500EX becomes GTC-550; GTC-600EX will change to GTC-700; GTC-800EX will change to GTC-900; and the GTC-1200EX becomes the GTC-1300.
World’s first electric rough-terrain crane
Among other developments, Tadano has announced plans to commercialise the world’s first electric rough-terrain crane, in line with the group’s efforts to achieve its long-term environmental targets. Currently in development, the crane will be able to drive to the jobsite and complete all lifting operations using battery/electric, rather than diesel power to deliver zero-emissions operation.
Beyond environment-friendly operation, the electric motor of this rough-terrain crane promises to emit lower noise when operating. This will result in significant advantages for customers when working in congested urban areas with noise ordinances, completing lift projects at night and operating indoors, the company says. Tadano is currently working with a variety of industry suppliers and partners and targets commercialisation of the new electric rough terrain crane in late 2023.
