Roshn, a leading Saudi community developer backed by the kingdom’s wealth fund PIF (Public Investment Fund), announced the launch of two major housing communities last month – one in the Eastern Province and the other in Riyadh.
The company also signed agreements worth SR8 billion ($2.1 billion) with top construction firms for the development of modern infrastructure and facilities across the several projects it is developing in the kingdom. These deals were inked on the sidelines of the inaugural PIF-backed Private Sector Forum that concluded in Riyadh last month.
The residential community in the Eastern Province, Alfulwa, is its fourth in the kingdom, and will cover a 10.8-million-sq-m area on the Al Ahsa Oasis.
The project, which is located 7 km from the centre of Al Hofuf city, will feature more than 18,000 residential units with a population capacity of 100,000 people.
To be built near Dakhna Mountain and Al Qarah Mountain, the Alfulwa project illustrates the unique cultural and geographical heritage of the region, providing an ideal mix of urban facilities amidst the stunning mountainous nature.
Unveiling the project, Group CEO David Grover said: “We are delighted to put our footprint in the Eastern Province, especially in Al Hofuf city, with this project, thus reflecting Roshn’s dedication to enhancing the urban landscape across the kingdom. Over the next few years, our objective is to create residential developments that provide the Saudi community with access to modern amenities in a sustainable and natural environment.”
The Alfulwa project follows the successful launch by Roshn of Sedra and Warefah in Riyadh and Alarous in Jeddah.
“In its design and construction, Alfulwa adheres to the sustainability principle, contributing to a 18 per cent reduction in energy consumption costs,” noted Grover. “In addition, the project incorporates unique architectural features of the Eastern Province’s buildings, which combine horizontal grooves and carefully crafted details, making it an ideal example of traditional architecture.”
Meanwhile in Riyadh, Roshn has launched Warefa, featuring 2,000 housing units in addition to other key commercial and lifestyle amenities.
Located on a 1.4-million-sq-m area in the Janadriyah district, east of the capital, Warefa will be home to some 13,000 people who will be housed in residential units built as per Salmani architecture.
Roshn’s second residential project in the capital, Warefa comes following the success of its earlier project Sidra.
It will boast several key commercial and service centres, health and educational facilities, mosques, green spaces, squares and public parks. The development will also contain 160,000 sq m of public parks and open spaces to enhance the wellbeing of residents.
