L&T said its Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) unit has clinched major contracts from the UAE and Kuwait as well as additional orders on ongoing jobs in Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Unveiling the details, the Indian construction group said its PT&D Business has received an order to set up a 220kV gas insulated substation and associated transmission lines in the UAE from a well-established service provider to the energy industry.

It has also secured contracts to build two 132kV substations from a public services infrastructure company in Dubai and another to build a 220kV overhead transmission line in the region.

In Kuwait, L&T said it has clinched an order for the turnkey construction of four 132kV substations in the Al Sabah Medical District.  The scope of work includes associated control, protection, automation and communication systems as well as related civil and mechanical works, it added.
