Sixth Tadano RT crane for mega Kuwait city project

01 December 2024

La’Ala Al-Kuwait Kuwait Real Estate Company has recently received the last of six new Tadano GR rough-terrain (RT) cranes, all of which will be fully utilised on the construction site of Sabah Al Ahmad Sea City, a large residential and mixed-use waterfront city in southern Kuwait.

The site covers many kilometres of open land, where the Tadano GR cranes have proven to be the ideal equipment due to their flexibility and high mobility. Typical applications include laying several hundred kilometres of sewer and stormwater networks, bridge and building construction, marina pontoon launching, and many other infrastructure projects associated with this megacity.

During Phase A of the project, La’Ala Al-Kuwait Real Estate developed several kilometres of coastline over the course of 15 years. In the current Phase B, around 86 km of new beaches are being created.

Matthew Roden, Director of Infrastructure and Construction Management, commented: “The arrival of the 145-tonne GR-1450EX completes the expansion of our fleet and positions us well to handle the diverse challenges presented by the project.

“In addition to the GR-1450EX, Tadano has also recently supplied us with three 30-tonne GR-300EXs, one 50-tonne GR-500EXL, and one 80-tonne GR-800EX. These cranes are already proving their value, especially with their pick-and-carry capabilities, which are being effectively applied across our extensive infrastructure works.”

“The addition of six new Tadano GR cranes brings our rough-terrain fleet to a total of 13. La’ala chose to switch to Tadano due to their reputation for exceptional quality and robust technology. The final decision was made easier after receiving positive feedback from other clients in Kuwait. We are grateful to Abdulmohsen Abdulaziz Al-Babtain Co and Tadano for their timely deliveries and ongoing support for our business activities,” he adds.

Since Tadano developed Japan’s first hydraulic truck crane in 1955, the company has grown globally, delivering its core values – safety, quality, and efficiency based on compliance (C+SQE) – in each of its products and services.

Founded in 1991, La’Ala Al-Kuwait Real Estate Company is the leading general contractor for the design and construction of Sabah Al-Ahmed Sea City, an entirely new coastal city being developed in partnership with the Kuwaiti government. This mega-project is considered one of the largest construction undertakings in the world, for which La’Ala Al-Kuwait Real Estate is responsible for all aspects – from land reclamation to urban infrastructure, including roads, water and energy supply, as well as shopping and entertainment centres, restaurants, hotels, a marina, and operational facilities.
