Formwork veteran builds on innovative solutions

Paschal, a leading German formwork manufacturer which this year marks its 60th anniversary, has made significant contributions to the construction industry worldwide, including in the Middle East. Its innovative formwork solutions, such as the Modular universal formwork and the TTR circular trapezoidal girder formwork, have been instrumental in realising complex projects.
A notable achievement was its involvement in the construction of the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, where the company provided the Modular formwork for the 1.6-km-long base of the landmark development. In Bahrain, Paschal’s formwork was used in iconic projects like the Fontana Infinity towers, the Onyx Bahrain Bay, Fontana and Seef Avenue II and is currently being utilised in the construction of Onyx Skyview.
Paschal’s commitment to innovation is evident in its latest developments, including the Logo.pro wall formwork system and the NeoR lightweight formwork. These solutions, along with their digital tools and sustainable practices, position the company as a leader in the industry.
NeoR lightweight formwork is an outstanding solution for modern construction projects and is ideally suited for the production of foundations, beams, pillars and walls, according to Paschal. The formwork panels are particularly light and weigh just 41.3 kg for an area of 90 x 150 cm. Installing and moving lightweight formwork on the construction site can, therefore, be carried out effortlessly.
With the use of the keybolts, the formwork system relies on a tried-and-tested light, force-locking and cost-effective connecting piece that ensures aligned walls.
Kooheji Contractors, a long-term partner of Paschal and one of the leading construction companies in Bahrain, is using the NeoR lightweight formwork for the construction of the lift shafts for the 53-storey Onyx Skyview.
“Due to the flexibility and light weight of NeoR system, Kooheji Contractors decided to use it for the first time in the Kingdom of Bahrain,” says Amir Delghandi, General Director of the Bahrain-based Paschal Concrete Forms, the regional office of the German formwork manufacturer.
“Although it has Modular formwork in its inventory, Kooheji Contractors prefers NeoR due to the higher concrete pressure capacity compared to Modular. In addition, with the very special dismantling corner post of NeoR system, they can dismantle the inner core of the lift shaft together in one lift by crane. The system enables them to reduce their erection and dismantling time with less workforce.”

Delghandi adds that, in the recent years, Paschal Deck formwork has been gaining popularity among many contractors.
“Paschal offers wooden H20 beams supported by heavy-duty fully galvanised props (variable 3-4 m) for casting concrete for slabs up to 4.30 m height. For higher slabs, we have the heavy-duty Frame System, which can go up to 10 m height. Currently, another leading Bahrain contractor Saleh Abdulla Kameshki is using Paschal’s Deck and Frame system for the construction of the Wave Tower project at Shaikh Khalifa Park beside the Prince Khalifa bin Salman Causeway.”
In the UAE, Paschal formwork systems are proving to be a popular choice among construction companies, thanks to their versatility, efficiency, and safety. These formwork systems are being used in a wide range of projects across the country, from residential and commercial buildings to infrastructure projects.
Among the notable projects in the UAE where Paschal formwork is being employed are Saadiyat Island, (columns, core walls and retaining walls), Reem Island (footings and walls), Souk Al Jubail Island (water tanks and pump rooms), and Mina Gathering Village, all in Abu Dhabi; and South Bay infrastructure, landscaping and lagoons work in Dubai South (retaining walls) and Damac Lagoons (tank walls in the pumping station), all in Dubai.
Among newly completed projects, Paschal formwork has helped construct the marine quay walls in Package One of Saadiyat Lagoons District, Abu Dhabi.
