Weinig Group, which counts the Gulf and Middle East as a growing market for its wood manufacturing equipment, has developed machinery solutions for both small and large manufacturing firms.
Machinery produced at its headquarters factory in Tauberbischofsheim, Germany, includes moulders, grinding equipment and equipment for tooling and mechanical handling.
A sister company, GreCon Dimter, makes automatic cross-cut saws, finger jointing and edge-gluing presses while another company within the group, Waco, in Sweden, makes high-speed moulders with automatic handling systems.
"There are already many long-established timber manufacturers who have been using Weinig machinery and numerous new customers are becoming the firm's partners in business," says a group spokesman about its Middle East market.
Newly developed products for smaller manufacturers include the Weinig Quattromat 23P and Profimat Super moulders, GreCon Dimter's automatic cross-cut saw (Opticut S 75) and the new edge-gluing machine (ProfiPress).
"These new machines are designed to help the small manufacturer compete with bigger companies in flexibility and quality," the spokesman says.
"The small moulders are built with many common parts from Weinig's larger heavy-duty machines and are built to last. They are extremely reliable, trouble-free, simple to operate and are adjusted quickly and easily, which makes them 10 times more productive than standard classical machines such as planers, thicknessers and spindle moulders."
The GreCon Dimter OptiCut is available in four versions - from a basic cross-cut saw for cutting fixed lengths of timber or packs of timber to the top-of-the-range model which offers optimised defect removal with simultaneous length cutting for maximum yield.
The basic machine can be extended by retrofitting the extra features which make the saw an attractive proposition for smaller companies.
The ProfiPress is described as an economically priced edge-gluing press which will be of interest to solid wood panel producers.
''It is available as a simple, basic machine for customers that only need edge-gluing capability at a price affordable to smaller companies,'' he says. Additional features can be retrofitted as requirements dictate, to convert the ProfiPress into an automatic press line.
For larger companies, the group offers bigger moulders including the Unimat 23 and Hydromat 23, which are available in a large choice of configurations and with infeed and outfeed mechanical handling such as conveyors and stackers.
Waco produces high-steel moulders which operate up to 360 m/min for high production output. These are usually fully automated production lines.
GreCon Dimter, which specialises in CNC optimising cross-cut saws, finger jointing, edge gluing and presses, offers other products which are increasingly being used by manufacturers for cross-cutting with minimum waste, cutting out defects, producing timber to different grades and finger jointing off-cuts into usable long lengths, thus adding value and increasing profit, says the spokesman.
"The benefits of GreCon Dimter machinery - offering quick payback on investment- are being increasingly recognised in the industry," he adds.
