Multiforms supplied and installed U-PVC door and window systems for the 223 Villas project, says Firas Rifai, managing director for the Dubai-based company.
The order was worth Dh6 million ($1.63 million).
"Our products are energy-saving and incorporate a thermal-break system with a U-value of 2.21 W/ sq m C. They are sound-proof, dust-proof and environmentally-
friendly,'' he says.
In a medium-sized house, the cooling load of each room component is as follows:
Wall 0.040 KW
Partitions 0.049 KW
Roof 0.336 KW
Door 0.048 KW
Window 0.437 KW
Others 0.076 KW
He continues: "According to Ashrae Chapter 26, window represents 50 per cent of the cooling load for a medium house construction, 0.437 KW, and 0.986 KW for window and room total cooling load components respectively.
"Furthermore, U-PVC is environmentally-friendly because the lower the U-Value (heat transfer coefficients) of window and door systems, the lower the level of wasted energy and subsequent decrease of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere, thus directly benefiting the environment in terms of global warming.
"U-PVC also benefits the environment in other ways. Because of its durability and recyclability, it conserves natural resources such as wood, metals, and energy that would otherwise be used in the manufacturing of traditional window frames and doors.
"Thus these windows:
Commenting about the villas project, Rifai says: "Due to good coordination between all the parties involved, this project went off smoothly."
Multiforms, which fabricates U-PVC window and door systems, was set up four years ago.
"Last year, we started manufacturing special aluminium window and door systems with a thermal break and with wooden cladding from the inside," he adds.
The company says it has done good business since its establishment and is currently constructing a new factory in Dubai Investment Park covering an area of 14,000 sq m to cope with future demand.
The factory, to be operational next year, will be fully equipped with the latest CAD/CAM-CNC machinery for manufacturing all types of windows and glazing systems. Its current manufacturing capacity of 150 windows per day will be boosted to 400 units per day after the expansion.
Besides the home market, Multiforms also exports U-PVC windows to Germany. "All the raw materials and accessories used by our company are of German quality. Most of our products are custom-designed," Rifai adds.
Commenting about the market, he says: "So far, business has been good and the market is promising. Our company is one of the biggest players in this field and we do not have any major competition.
"Aluminium and wood is a new business which was started a few months ago and we already have secured major projects."
Some of the projects the company has been involved with include Emirates Lakes project phases I, II, III and IV for Emaar Properties.
Besides, it has handled a number of palace projects for the ruling family.
Some of the other projects include a ground-plus-18-storey building to which it supplied U-PVC windows and Rihab Rotana in Dubai.
