Nitco International, a group company of UAE's Bukhatir Investments, has won a major order for an 800-unit beach resort project in Iran.
The Sharjah-based company is reported to have clinched the order because of its new method of constructing pre-engineered panels for assembling prefabricated structures with an extended lifespan claimed at over 30 years
The new sandwich panel produced on a semi-automatic production line uses a complex centre core between two fibre cement board skins, said Kenneth Bellamy, the company general manager.
"The Iran contract is to supply the new FPS-30 construction system for the project. The units will be three- and four-bedroom units with the normal amenities of kitchen and bathrooms and are due to be supplied starting January 2002."
Nitco International earlier won a multi-million-dirham contract in Oman to supply prefabricated building units for a joint defence exercise in desert warfare.
The units were for the joint military training being undertaken by the British armed forces and their Omani counterparts.
