Al Jubail United Petrochemical Company (United), a unit of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic) has awarded an engineering, procurement and construction for its ethylene glycol plant to Japanese firm Toyo Engineering Company.

The company did not put a value on the contract.

The project - designed using US technology - is one of the largest of its kind in the world, with an annual capacity of 630,000 tonnes of ethylene glycol. Work is likely to be completed within 28 months.
