SAIE set for expansion

01 JUNE 2002

SAIE 2002, the international show of building technologies, to be held at Bologna, Italy later this year will witness significant expansion at some of its exhibit areas.

Organisers said the areas to witness expansion include StrutturaLegno, an initiative developed jointly by BolognaFiere and Federlegno Arredo and first held at last year's Saie, which again this year will have a space devoted to wood, including initial processing, structural wood building, laminated wood and wood trading.

Other areas to see expansion will be the sectors of lime, cement and plaster; machinery for working bars for reinforced concrete; and water treatment and plumbing.

SAIE 2002's packed conference programme will provide a perfect response to building professionals' needs for detailed, up-to-date information.

Highly specialised seminars, workshops, conferences and focus meetings will complement the exhibition proper so as to provide complete coverage of the building world.

The exhibition will be held from October 16-20.

Milan show a big success

Milan: The 33rd Mostra Convegno Expocomfort (MCE) in Milan, Italy, was an unprecedented success, the organisers have said.

There was general satisfaction with the range of exhibitors, visitor quality, the seminars and workshops, and the entry of MCE into the energy production sector.

The area occupied by the 33rd MCE and the 4th Servitis, the show of services for the HVAC and sanitary installations sector which was staged in conjunction with it, was eight per cent up on 2000 and set a new record for the show at 143,826 sq m.

Direct exhibitors, that is those with their own stands, numbered 1,968, a rise of 5.3 per cent compared with 2000, and they came from 48 countries.

There were 147,448 visitors, including 16 per cent (23,502) from 131 countries outside Italy.

60pc exhibitors vow to return

Kiev: More than 60 per cent of exhibitors at this year's Building Week Ukraine have already booked their places at next year's event, reflecting the growing demand for building and interior products in the country, organisers ITE Group said.

Building Week Ukraine 2002, held in late April, attracted 200 companies from 20 countries including national pavilions from Poland and Finland. More than 12,000 trade visitors attended the event, with 40 per cent coming from all the regions of Ukraine and neighbouring countries, they said.

The 2003 event will be held at a new venue, the International Exhibition Centre from February 11-14.
