VOLVO Construction Equipment (VCE) has launched a new range of compact excavators.
The new 1.5 to 2-tonne Volvo B-series which are said to combine their predecessors' high level of serviceability, quality and comfort with a new state-of-the-art load-sensing hydraulic system, reduced sound levels and enhanced security.
The EC 15B and EC20B compact excavators are fitted with a load-sensing hydraulic system that provides power, smoothness, perfect controllability and independence of all movements for improved efficiency, precision and comfort, and thus increased productivity, says the company.
The B series excavators also offer dramatically improved soundproofing. The result is a considerable reduction of the internal as well as the external sound levels, leading to less operator fatigue and more comfort while making the machine better suited for use in urban areas.
Much attention has also been paid to safety, says Volvo. When lifting the console of an EC 15B or EC20B, it locks all the machine controls, including the equipment, the blade, the translation and the rotation of the turret. This prevents risks of accidents when climbing in or out of the cab, it says.
A new set of powerful halogen working lights gives perfect visibility when operating in dark areas, thereby increasing work precision and safety on the job site, says Volvo.
All components and service points are within easy reach. For instance, the Volvo patented tilting counterweight allows easy access to the engine. The one-piece cab floor makes it easy to reach the spool valves while the hoses supplying the boom are fitted externally along the boom, keeping all connections within easy reach.
They have been shortened for better visibility on the working equipment and are interchangeable: only one spare hose is needed to keep the machine operational even if one of the hoses is damaged.
In order to maintain a high resale value, all equipment connectors are protected under thick plates and the newly-designed wrap-around counterweight is a perfect protection for the rear, the company adds.
All hydraulic tubes are zinc-coated to prevent them from rusting.
