Installation of thermal insulation in new buildings in Bahrain is now mandatory. The law, in its initial stage, makes insulation a must for all government buildings, industrial and commercial buildings as well as other buildings more than four storeys high.

The move is expected to help cut electricity consumption in new buildings by up to 40 per cent.
