Boskalis Westminster Middle East (Boskalis) has been active in all countries of the Middle East since the early seventies, taking advantage of ample opportunities offered by the region for works including dredging for large infrastructure projects, reclamation for housing and industrial sites, offshore trenching for in/outlets and pipelines, infrastructure for roads and bridges and, more recently, marine and tourist development in the Gulf.

It continues to contribute to the construction of major ports in almost all countries in the region.  More than 25 years ago, Boskalis started with dredging for major ports in Mina Salman in Bahrain and Jubail in Saudi Arabia, followed by Bandar Abbas in Iran and several ports in the emirates in the eighties.
In the nineties, it was involved in the dredging of the Ras Laffan LNG Port in Qatar and, more recently, Boskalis carried out the dredging of Salalah Port in Oman and Aden Port in Yemen, enabling these ports to receive the latest generation of container vessels.
Boskalis also performed projects for major international and Middle Eastern oil companies on a regular basis. Its dredgers and backhoes were involved in oil/gas fields such as Kharg, South Pars, Das and Halul.
Boskalis has specially designed and constructed the largest fleet of self-propelled rock cutter suction dredgers in the world to cope with the tough weather and soil dredging conditions in the Middle East.  These vessels were involved in large reclamation projects in Sanabis/Seef in Bahrain, West Bay in Qatar, Lulu Island in Abu Dhabi and recently The Palm in Dubai and for Amwaj Island and Durrat Al Khaleej in Bahrain.
