Al Rashid-Abetong (ARA), a joint venture company between Al Rashid Trading and Contracting Company (RTCC) and Abetong AB of Heidelberg Cement Norden-Europe, has introduced a precast water tank system in Saudi Arabia.
The system, according to a spokesman for the company, was developed by the Swedish partner in Al Rashid-Abetong 25 years ago and has recently been enhanced to guarantee better waterproofing.
The water tank system - many of which have been produced and installed in Europe - combines the high performance of precast technology with a short onsite execution time. The tanks are available in a variety of sizes of up to 30,000 cu m and can be used for any kind of liquid storage - potable water or wastewater.
The company offers to install the water tank as a complete civil work including excavation, foundation slab, precast tank with roof or alternative solely as precast tank wall panels and roof.
'Our formula for success is simple: To provide our customers with affordable, quality precast concrete structures that are backed by prompt pre and post-sales service,' says the spokesman. 'We pass on to our customers all the benefits that come from the leading market position we have maintained for more than 25 years. Our vision is to sustain our leadership in the precast concrete business by providing products and services of high class and quality.'
Al Rashid-Abetong was established in 1977 and has grown rapidly to become one of the most successful companies in Saudi Arabia. The company manufactures a range of products including: Swede beam system, hollowcore, double tee slab and ARA form slabs in addition to various other types of precast concrete elements.
'An increasing number of players in the construction segment are becoming aware of the advantages of using precast concrete - which facilitates the speedy execution of projects with a high standard at a reasonable price. This fact, coupled with the generally high construction activity witnessed in the region, has increased the demand for precast concrete,' he says.
Al Rashid-Abetong has three large factories located in the Second Industrial City in Riyadh in addition to the main office in Riyadh and two branch offices located in Jeddah and Al Khobar.
The company has a dedicated team of highly qualified and experienced professionals who have earned a reputation for delivering high-quality products and services. The company currently has more than 2,000 employees.
ARA's precast products are manufactured and cured in a plant environment, which allows the company to closely monitor and control critical variables including mix design, weather condition and temperature. This ensures that the quality of ARA precast far exceeds that of any other construction material, he claims.
Its Riyadh factories produce more than 15,000 cu m precast elements per month. 'This means more than 70 fully loaded trailers leave our factories to different sites in the Kingdom on an average day,' the spokesman points out.
The Swedish collaboration gives the company access to the latest technology in precast concrete systems. 'Our well-known and unique Swede beam system proves its excellence every day in the Kingdom,' he continues. 'The span of the beams, which can reach 40 m, provides large column-free areas. In addition, the concrete slab is guaranteed to be watertight and does not need any further water membrane and protection cover.'
The Swede beam system comprises of heavily pre-stressed beams with standard shapes, manufactured in the factory with provisions for the interacting cast-in-place concrete slab.
'We have a long-term relationship with our customers all over Saudi Arabia, which should assure our potential clients of the satisfaction we always offer our customers,' he says.
Al Rashid-Abetong has the capacity and resources to undertake turnkey projects from conception to completion. It has successfully handled such projects including Al Marai Dairy Plant-Phase 1 in A1 Kharj, Sara Vision headquarters in Riyadh and National Company for Cooperative Insurance car park building in Riyadh.
Al Rashid-Abetong has successfully executed a variety of projects since its formation, including the Al Mousa commercial and office buildings, Arriyadh Transportation Centre, Sahara Mall and Al Qarawi Centre (all in Riyadh), Al Mutlaq Commercial Building, Tahlia Commercial Centre and Crystal Resort Project (all in Jeddah), Al Jeraisy Office Building, Al Jedaie commercial buildings and Al Gosaibi housing Compound (all in Al Khobar) and Al Othaim Shopping Mall Buildings at various sites.
