Sutton ensures quality MEP works

01 November 2003

The UK-based Sutton International was responsible for the commissioning management and commissioning of MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) services at the Higher College of Technology for Men in Dubai.

Sutton was required to work in parallel with the project team to monitor the progress of works ensuring: the desired method of installation and completion of works was adhered to; that sufficient test points, valves, dampers and controls were incorporated to allow satisfactory testing, regulation and commissioning; and that the plant was maintainable.

Established in 1977, Sutton International opened its Middle East branch in Dubai in 1997. It developed in-house facilities from initial setting to work balancing and performance testing, providing commissioning management, maintenance, pipework and ductwork cleaning and to full publishing facilities in technical documentation.

Some of the other prestigious projects completed by the company include Grand Hyatt, Knowledge Village (both in Dubai), Khalifa Park in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah City Centre, Ritz Carlton Hotel in Doha (Qatar) Hilton Beach Resort in Mauritius and British High Commission in Bangladesh.

"Our company was the first independent commissioning specialist to obtain ISO 9002 registration in 1991. Our commitment to our clients' needs, staff training and welfare, implementation of the latest management methods and our desire to relieve inherent engineering problems promotes our watchwords - 'Engineering for Engineers'," says Glyn Fryer, contracts manager with Sutton.
