Eearly 600 national and international companies are expected to promote their products and services at the International Turkeybuild Istanbul 2004 Fair from May 5 to 9.
The trade show on building materials and technologies will spread over an area of 52,000 sq m in seven halls at the Tuyap Fair and Congress Centre in Istanbul,
Last year’s event attracted 71,737 visitors from around the globe and the organiser Building Information Centre (BIC) expects this figure to rise to 75,000 to include architects, engineers, contractors and professional executives.
The wide range of products which will be exhibited at Turkeybuild will represent the latest materials and technology for the construction industry.
“In recent years, the International Turkeybuild Istanbul Fair has been seeking to serve wider markets and has grown from being just another domestic trade fair,” says a spokesman for BIC. “Every year, more and more foreign companies have been participating in the fair, and this is a good indication that the fair is successfully meeting the needs of the visiting companies in introducing themselves to the Balkans, Middle East and the Caucasus as well as Turkish domestic markets.”
The fair will also seek to focus on one of the major markets in the region – the $100 billion reconstruction programme of Iraq. In post-war Iraq, there is expected to be a spurt in activity in the public works and the building sector and the fair is expected to provide a venue for companies to introduce building materials and services to this part of the world.
The fairs that were first organised in 1978 have grown in size over the years with last year’s event featuring 529 exhibitors – more than 150 of which were multinationals – from 45 countries exhibiting over 10,000 products.
The fair has given an opportunity for professionals in the region as well as those from the Balkans, CIS, Middle East and North Africa to establish new contacts.
As part of the fair, BIC will be organising supporting activities such as seminars, exhibitions, and panel discussions during International Turkeybuild Istanbul 2004 Fair, to provide an intellectual forum to the building sector, he says.
Since 1991, the organisers have been presenting awards in various segments including the ‘Altin Cekul (The Golden Plummet) Award’ for Turkish building materials producers. Besides this, awards will also be given for the best stand design and The Building Information Centre special award.
The exhibitors will be grouped according to the following sectors:
Bathroom and kitchen equipment; building chemicals, adhesives and bindings; computer software; concrete, reinforcement and equipment; construction machinery and hand tools; conveying systems (escalators, elevators, etc.); design services/real estate marketing; door systems and accessories; electricity and lighting; energy; facade and roof coverings; fixing and fitting elements; glass and transparent elements; heat and sound insulation; heating, ventilation, air-conditioning; indoor furnishing and equipment; installation equipment; landscaping; paint and varnish; partition walls; pipes and fittings; prefabricated elements and accessories; profiles; ready-mixed mortar and plasters; sauna and swimming pools; scaffolding and formwork; security systems and building automation; shutters, blinds and shades; signage and display elements; stairs; suspended ceiling systems and accessories; wall and floor coverings; wall blocks and elements; water, damp and fire proofing; water treatment systems; and window systems and accessories.
