Gulf Glass succeeds through synergy

01 April 2004

Dubai-based Gulf Glass, a manufacturer of high-quality glass, says that a synergy of German technical expertise and professional architecture has allowed it to offer new products that provide an unsurpassed level of richness and attributes.

Among the range of products that it now plans to introduce is sun protection glass (SPG), which will further enhance its position in the regional market, according to the company.
“Gulf Glass is a niche player in the specialty and industrial glass business, focusing on value-added products,” says N Alex, project director. “It has perfected unique manufacturing processes, which have resulted in lower manufacturing costs.”
Gulf Glass uses up-to-date glass manufacturing processes to guarantee top-quality end-products that are used extensively both in exterior (facades, parapets, columns and pillars, entrance areas, and wall-coverings) and interior (decor, furnishing, finishing, trim and panelling) applications.
The applications extend to cladding of walls and ceilings, partitions, as well as fittings for entrance halls, receptions, shops, offices, hotels, and banks. The products are also used in the furniture industry for tables and tabletops, bathroom furniture, kitchens, cupboards, and worktops.
Gulf Glass core products include:

  • Design glass (single security glass/single laminated glass), which can be offered in a range of colours and designs.
  • Safety mirrors - float glass mirrors/mirrors for damp locations, which can be coated with resin. The company manufactures and supplies single laminated safety mirror.

Says Alex: “These products – tested to relevant standards and endorsed by independent test-reports – are identified with a permanent brand mark. The glasses are available in small (150 mm by 150 mm and 250 mm by 250 mm)/ and large (1.5 m by 3 m) sizes.
Gulf Glass is also a speciality glass coater as well as a tempered glass and double-glazing manufacturer.
“It can combine, in an unequalled way, the advantages of a feature-rich product such as single ‘security-glass’ with the appeal of colour and designs including 3D-effects,” she says.
These products can be used for several applications – both exterior and interior – to satisfy the needs of private, business and public areas.
“A vast variety of effects – pearl, sky, dream, mystic and stone – can be created using light transmittance, with the option of creating either translucent and opaque formats,” she adds.
Turning to the attributes of SPG, she says: “SPG boasts good near-infrared light absorption and high reflection, with adjustable reflection in the visible light spectrum.
The company produces coloured coatings directly on float glass, which allows it to offer the full range of SPG. These panes are post-temperable.”
This apart, Gulf Glass plans to offer a choice of 19 different stone patterns that can be applied digitally on glass. Images and subjects are scanned, digitised and applied onto glass with a resin plotter, she says.
The company offers RAL colours as standard. All RAL colours can be offered with a metallic effect. “All kinds of digital and design coatings can be offered with an opaque or transparent effect and also with a 3D character,” says Alex.
Products are delivered as a single sheet or as insulating double glazing unit, and include tempered glass and heat-strengthened glass.
Gulf Glass uses top-grade materials – which are specially made for the company – for the processing and production of glass and coated glass, she says.
The company responds promptly and competently to enquiries from customers in the UAE, GCC and various other markets.
“We are committed to becoming market leaders in the Middle East, specialising in the manufacture of design glasses and solar glasses to complement any décor – interior or exterior – to satisfy the requirements of individual as well as corporate clients for the coming decades,” Alex concludes.
