Satco keeps the complex watertight

01 December 2004

Contracting and trading company Satco International, which has recently completed its work on the West Bay Complex (Four Seasons Hotel), is appreciative of the partnership it shared with Construction Development Company (CDC) and with various individuals and companies through the various stages of the project.

A multi-activity group mainly serving the construction industry in Qatar, Satco International was involved in waterproofing and protection of the foundation, wet areas and the roof for the project.
“The foundation waterproofing and protection was a particularly difficult task since all the buildings (towers and others) are near the sea,” says general manager Mohd Sabih Bukhari.
“Protection of the wet areas was another tedious job because of the intricacies involved in detailing,” he says.
“For the roof, Satco was responsible for providing waterproofing and heat insulation, screeding, and flashing,” he adds.
Satco attributes its success to the partnership it enjoyed in executing the project.
“We could not have achieved the successful completion of the project without the cooperation of CDC; the site management including engineers, supervisors, project manager in general; and project director Nabil Elias, whose leadership qualities, calm and poised attitude and vision is at par excellence,” says Bukhari.
“We – along with our managing director of Satco International, Mohd Khan – congratulate Khalil Sholy, managing director, CDC and Elias on accomplishing this project and building another landmark for the State of Qatar,” says Bukhari.
Satco International came into existence in 1984, and since its inception has seen a tremendous growth in its capital, annual turnover, staff and workers and the diversity in the number of divisions.
Over the years, the company has added several divisions which include the following: waterproofing and thermal insulation; civil construction; air-conditioning; building maintenance; pipelines (water and sewage); crushers; marble and granite; foodstuff; IT; building materials trading; and the construction chemicals.
