Palfinger launches versatile machines

An Austrian lifting equipment specialist continues to extend its range of products through the introduction of new models in a move to strengthen and enhance the flexibility to its range.

Palfinger – an Austria-headquartered specialist hydraulic lifting, loading and handling systems, which has recently supplied its cranes and equipment in Qatar – is eyeing the rapidly growing markets of the region to export its new line of forklifts.

The company’s Crayler mounted forklifts have been used in a wide range of applications and projects worldwide and its Crayler BM (box-mounted) and the CR 203 series have already proven a hit among its clients across the globe.
In a move to strengthen and enhance the flexibility to its range of forklifts, Palfinger continues to  extend the range through the introduction of new models, one of which is the truck-mounted forklift Palreach, which was unveiled at the recent Conexpo 2005 exhibition in Las Vegas, US, last March.
CR 50 Palreach
The rear-mounted CR 50 Palreach forklifts are versatile powerhouses boasting a host of technical advantages and range of equipment, says a spokesman for the company. “Mounted at the rear of the carrier vehicle, the CR ensures through its short overhang and minimal dead weight that the vehicle’s handling characteristics remain optimal and also permits the customer to use a maximum payload,” he explains. “On arrival at the destination, the CR is easy to dismount and is ready for work in less than a minute. The CR 50 Palreach is a forklift, which – thanks to its large outreach – makes it possible for the user to unload the truck from just one side.
“This large outreach is made possible by the scissor system installed between the retractable mast and the fork. As a result, the forklift can work efficiently and economically at any time without difficulty, even in cramped space conditions.”
The Crayler CR 50 Palreach also stands out by virtue of its exclusive paintwork.
The standards of quality set for Crayler forklifts is impressive. The latest proof of this innovative quality strategy can be seen in the application of KTL technology (cataphoretic dip painting) on the forklift components.

The Crayler F3 PRO ... among
the lightest forklifts.

“Transportable forklifts are exposed to a number of corrosion-causing environ-mental influences – dirt, spray water, road salt, stone impact and the like, and pose a severe test for these units of equipment day-in, day-out. This means that appropriate surface protection is required, and thanks to KTL, this has been excellently achieved,” says the spokesman. “This advanced surface treatment process has 16 steps, and so Palfinger is therefore creating a standard with its Crayler products, which up to now has only been usual in the automotive industry. The result is optimal corrosion protection for all forklift components.”
Crayler F3 PRO
Another innovation, the F3 PRO rear-mounted forklift generation – described as being ideally suitable for lifting and transporting gas and building materials as well as for duty in the recycling and waste-disposal sector – impresses by virtue of its powerful performance, high manoeuvrability and smooth handling characteristics, says the spokesman.
“Even while being transported, the attributes of the Crayler F3 come fully into play. The unit, which is available in various equipment and capacity variations, fits onto any standard forklift holder on the truck and its short overhang and minimal dead weight ensure that the handling characteristics of the transport vehicle remain optimal,” he says.
Despite their high lifting capacity, Palfinger Crayler transportable forklifts are among the lightest units in the sector, “thanks to finite-element computation and the use of fine-grained structural steel. Customers also stand to benefit from the know-how of Palfinger as a global player – expertise which results from years of research and development work,” he adds.
Elaborating on the various features of the new range, he continues: “The aspects of safety and ergonomics are also prominent in the design of the Crayler. The seat is mounted in the centre of the forklift and thus close to the centre of rotation, ensuring that the driver has an excellent overview at all times, and protection bars provide the necessary safety in critical situations. The control elements such as the hand lever and switches are clearly arranged and can be easily operated from the driver’s seat.
“In addition to their new design, the new forklifts impress by virtue of a series of detail improvements: On the design engineering front, the overhang has been further reduced (below 1.20 m), so that the F3 PRO can be deployed universally throughout Europe without exceeding statutory parameters. Further features of the PRO series are the electrical system, which is additionally protected against water, a new rollover bar and an optimised drive system. Very good access to all maintenance points guarantees minimal servicing times and costs.
“An increase in the variety of different versions and equipment makes the forklifts in the F 3 PRO series even more flexible. According to the duty requirement, several frame widths are available for selection. Also customers can choose from the various wheel arm versions and tyre dimensions. This means that the forklifts can be matched perfectly to specific customer requirements.
Crayler CR 203
The CR 203 celebrated its European premiere at the Bauma 2004. The retractable-mast forklift, which up to now has been marketed only in North America, can be mounted at the rear of the carrier vehicle. The CR ensures through its short overhang and minimal dead weight that the vehicle’s handling characteristics remain unimpaired and also permits the customer to use a maximum payload.
While at work, the forklift proves what it’s really made of – through the sophisticated drive system, the 47 hp of the air-cooled diesel engine acts directly on the wheels and ensures optimal all-terrain capability and traction even on difficult ground, the spokesman says.
“The CR forklift is not only an absolute top quality product with regards to power and speed, for it is designed to the ANSI standards, it is FOPS and ROPS (falling objects and roll over protection system) tested, it meets all the safety requirements, and offers the best-possible operating convenience,” he adds.
Crayler BM
One of the key features of this flexible all-wheel-drive forklift from Palfinger is that it is box mounted. This allows the forklift to be transported in a box mounted between the axles of the carrier vehicle, well protected from dirt and the typical weather-related problems of road transport. Through its optimal weight distribution and the low centre of gravity, the BM ensures that the transport vehicle retains a high level of stability and safety, whether it is an articulated or swap-body vehicle. The box permits rapid and undisrupted loading and unloading on ramps, as well as the unhindered transport of excessively long goods.
“The Crayler BM is the perfect forklift for handling building materials, for the recycling sector and for general logistics forwarding,” the spokesman says. “The set-up time of only 30 seconds permits easy and efficient loading and unloading within the shortest period of time. And the speedy performance of its handling and lifting work is additionally emphasised by the BM through its impressive carrying capacity of 1.5 to 2.1 tonnes.
Established in 1932, Palfinger has been for many years among the leading international manufacturers of hydraulic lifting, loading and handling systems. It has production and assembly sites in Europe as well as in North and South America. Innovation, further internationalisation and diversification of products and services form the strategic pillars of the corporate strategy.
