German fixing specialist Fischer has introduced a thermal insulation system plug, which is set using a power drill, cutting installation time by as much as 30 per cent and thus offering considerable savings to customers.
The Termoz KS 8 thermal insulation system plug was awarded the European Technical Approval last spring.
“Saving time and money is the crucial factor when selecting a thermal insulation system with installation time and material costs for the whole system to be taken into account,” says a company spokesman. “Designed for general use and quick to fix – these requirements for fixing thermal insulation system are fully met by the new Termoz KS 8.”
The anchor can be set in concrete, solid or perforated building materials with a nominal anchoring depth of as little as 30 mm and does not require a hammer for setting.
“Also, time-consuming power tool changes or setting tools are no longer necessary. The Termoz KS 8 is set with the same power tool setting as during drilling (8 mm),” he adds.
The newly-developed expansion zone of the anchor is asymmetrical in design. Teethed elements between the expansion sleeve and the thread of the expansion elements allows rapid setting and high retaining values in all building materials.
The Termoz KS 8 is the first thermal insulation fixing anchor with defined compression zone, says the spokesman. When the expansion element is turned in, the shaft is deformed under controlled condition and does not tear open. When turning or hammering in the expansion elements of conventional anchors, it can happen that the plastic is compressed and bursts between the wall and the insulation, he points out.
He continues: “The moulded-on torque support in the expansion element prevents the anchor head from being pressed too deeply into the insulation and avoids undesirable plaster blistering. The head of the expansion element seals the shaft, eliminating the need for sealing caps, and the use of plastic expansion elements reduces transmission heat loss to a much greater extent than in conventional anchors. The anchor creates virtually no thermal bridges.”
Termoz KS 8 is available with a drill hole diameter of 8 mm and a plate diameter of 60 mm in lengths ranging from 110 to 230 mm.
Established in 1948 as a small workshop, Fischer Group is one of Europe’s greatest “idea factories”. Headquartered in the small town of Waldachtal in the Black Forest of Germany, the group has in a short span of time created 1,828 inventions, which are protected worldwide by more than 8,700 registered patents.
