Weinig launches fast moulder in region

01 October 2005

Weinig claims that its entry-level, compact moulder, the Unimat 300, offers excellent performance and top quality finish while allowing users considerable savings in time and money.

The Unimat 300’s heavy cast-iron base offers optimum vibration absorption, which helps achieve a top-quality surface finish. The moulding spindles give 30 mm deep cuts for deep moulds and it has many quick set-up features to reduce set-up time, i.e. central adjustment of the chipbreaker and a pressure shoe using digital readouts, says a company spokesman.
“In addition, the machine also guarantees accuracy in operations by providing exact repeatability of jobs. The Unimat 300, in fact, has many common features with Weinig’s larger machines – which distinguishes it from other small moulder makes on the market.”
It is a very powerful moulder and processes the hardest timbers easily, even when deep profiles are required. For example, it can mould an eight-inch cornice in yellow pine, in one pass, achieving a perfect finish,” he explains.
The spokesman adds: “Compared to the previous method of producing mouldings (such as tongue-and-groove panels and flooring), where it required three passes on conventional standard machines, mouldings can now be produced in one pass.
The machine can be used to mould a range of joinery products made for shopfitting, restaurants, banks, and bar counters, which are mainly manufactured from hardwoods such as Iroko and Sapele, he concludes.
