Two Atlas Copco XAS 96 portable air compressors have already become part of a record in Bahrain, where they were used to supply air and power throughout the construction of the 53-storey twin towers of the Bahrain Financial Harbour (BFH) project.
“Both compressors have been used to clean the respective towers’ rebar in readiness for the next concrete slab pours and have remained on top of each tower up to the final 223 m height,” says a spokesman.
“A fleet of at least 12 Atlas Copco air compressors has been used by main contractor, Al Hamad Construction & Development Company throughout construction of the BFH twin towers development,” he adds.
The compressors include different versions of the single-axle Atlas Copco XAS range - XAS 186, XAS 125, XAS 96 and the recently introduced XAS 97s; providing air power for a variety of duties including air tools and breakers.
In addition to Al Hamad’s fleet of compressors, the contractor has also rented XAS 97s from Abu Amer and Modern Mechanical Rental fleets; ordered through local distribution Gulf Equipment and Technology (GET).
The XAS 97 is rated to provide a free air delivery (fad) of 5.3 cu m/min (190 cfm) at 7 bar and has been designed to offer increased reliability, durability and serviceability.
The model features a new canopy design fitted as a hinged unit, which is easily opened or closed smoothly with the air of sturdy gas springs.
