Mobotix cameras well received, says AFI

01 January 2006

AFI (Alaa For Industry) – one of the leading industrial houses in the Middle East – which offers security solutions in collaboration with well-known international brands, says that its revolutionary Mobotix camera has been well received in the regional markets.

AFI, which provides a host of security solutions such as IP security cameras and IP access control solutions, is the sole distributor for these German IP security cameras.
“Among the portfolio of security solutions provided by AFI, Mobotix has proved to be the most successful and well received by the market,” says Jolly Joseph
marketing manager. “They Mobotix system has the best of all features as it encompasses an IP network camera, recorder, player, VoIP audio, motion sensor ISDN, and video management and RS-232 interface.
He adds: “The Mobotix camera has a unique design and features a variety of innovations without the need to install any software application. It is also unique in its unmatched high-resolution mega pixel image quality (1280 x 960) with a minimal network load (1-2 Mbps) at high frame rates.
“In other words, the Mobotix camera has abandoned 60 years of video technology, analogue signals, low resolution and the interface problems and substituted them with two high-resolution digital image sensors combined with a powerful Linux PC. The cameras attain a resolution that is 12 times as high as on analogue video systems that commonly use the CIF format. Mobotix has even discarded the usual software compressor (codec) and embedded the entire camera functionality in a single software package. In addition, the cameras are optimised and integrate the optics with no moving parts.
“The camera has a robust design with no moving parts in the camera and the lenses. It does not need a separate weatherproof housing as it has a weatherproof IP65 outdoor design (-20 to 60 deg C).
“As opposed to most competing products, Mobotix cameras do not display motion artifacts in high-resolution images and direct artificial or sunlight do not result in lower image quality.
“The new Mobotix camera model D10 in a fixdome housing is a convincing combination of tried-and-tested network camera technology in a new and elegant design,” continues Joseph. “In addition to a frame buffer, a microphone, a speaker and a passive infrared sensor, the fixdome is equipped with two camera lenses, each of which can be focused individually. This makes it possible to monitor different parts of a room with just one camera – while one lens is focused on the building entrance, for example, the other can keep ‘a close eye’ on the elevators.
Mobotix, a relatively a new player (since 2001) in the market, with state-of-the-art technology and know-how, has already captivated the attention and imagination of security professionals and common people alike. That fact that more than 38,000 cameras have been sold globally – a number which is growing at an astronomical rate – is an indication of the proven technology and its acceptability globally.
“Alaa Industrial Equipment Factory (AFI) and Mobotix AG creates a synergy where the Mobotix technology and AFI’s local support is fused to provide a unique value proposition to the Middle East market,” he adds.
AFI, with its head office in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, is one of the leading suppliers of engineered products and services in the Middle East for well over 20 years. AFI has an extensive network of branches in Saudi Arabia: Riyadh, Jeddah, Yanbu, Jubail, Qassim, Tabuk, Hofuf, Khodariya and Abha, providing products and services throughout the kingdom.
