Bobcat launches new tools for range

01 February 2006

Continuing on the path of launching user-friendly and high-productivity construction equipment, leading construction equipment manufacturer Bobcat has introduced a comprehensive range of soil preparation attachments for use in a range of applications such as landscaping, golf course construction, sports field refurbishment and general construction and building.

“The range includes three soil conditioner models, with working widths of 213, 183 and 122 cm, as well as a box blade and a laser box blade, each with a working width of 213 cm, designed for use with Bobcat skid-steer, compact tracked and all-wheel loaders as well as the Toolcat Utility Work Machine,” says a company spokesman.

Soil conditioners
“The soil conditioners grade, level, fill and pulverise dirt clumps and can separate and windrow debris and rocks. The soil conditioners can work effectively in either direction, breaking up old sod and leaving a perfect bed for seeding or laying new sod.
“The operator can angle the drums on the soil conditioners up to 25 degrees with fingertip control on the steering levers of the tool carrier. The replaceable carbide teeth on the drum have an aggressive profile to penetrate hard ground. An oscillating front bolster distributes weight equally on both tyres for full drum-to-ground contact,” he says.

Box blade attachments
The spokesman continues: “The box blade attachment, designed for rough grading and landscaping applications, is controlled from the operator’s seat with the centre switch on the right control lever. Moving the switch right or left will raise and lower the bolster, which in turn raises or lowers the box blade.
“The laser box blade, with a grade accuracy of +/- 6 mm, is designed to perform precise grading required for most concrete flat work jobs or applications that require a single slope grade. For job site preparation, the box blade can be used without engaging the laser to fill in low spots and carry material to get the surface close to grade. The laser can then be used to complete the final grade.
“The laser box blade comes equipped with a Trimble laser receiver and a receiver pole. The receiver on the laser box blade reads a 360-degree reference plane of laser light emitted from a rotating laser beacon.
“Customers can utilise existing rotating laser beacons, as the box blade laser receiver will work with most rotating laser beacons. The laser on/off and override are controlled by fingertip control from the loader handles in the cab. The switch is located on the backside of the right steering lever.”
Bobcat – part of Ingersoll Rand, a world leader in the field of compact vehicles and equipment- has an extensive line of powerful, nimble compact construction equipment and attachments. The company’s state-of-the-art engineering capabilities and stylish designs are reflected in its world famous Club Car vehicles, the spokesman concludes.
