BFS leads with creative engineering

01 March 2006

BFS Betonfertigteilesysteme – whose creative engineering skills has resulted in a wide range of machinery and equipment for the manufacture of concrete elements required for drainage and sewage systems – has continued to expand its portfolio and enhance its global presence, especially since its acquisition by the Casagrande Group of Italy in 2002.

 “Creative engineering at BFS has led to trendsetting solutions and integrated concepts of production, enabling the company to set new standards in the industry,” says a spokesman for the company. “The many patents held by the company are a testimony to its commitment to research and development.”
BFS offers a complete range of machinery and equipment that are engineered in a modular form so that options can be added, as required, to fullfil the customers’ requirements right up to complete automation. In addition, the company also offers a wide range of peripheral equipment including robot cranes for transport of ‘green’ and cured products.
The company’s basic range of machinery includes:
•  Souveraen automatic concrete pipe-making machines for the production of reinforced and non-reinforced concrete pipes DN 250 to DN 1.600 mm in lengths up to 3.6 m. These are available in three models (Souveraen SV 800, SV 1200 and SV 1600);
•  Jumbo Jr or Jumbo S for manufacturing round and rectangular products up to 3 m diameter in 3-m lengths – especially for large-diameter reinforced concrete, jacking pipes and box culverts – as well as septic tanks and rainwater containers;
•  Atlantic fully automatic pipe/manhole machines for the manufacture of concrete pipes, DN 300 to DN 1.200 mm, in 2.5-m lengths and manhole rings and tapers up to DN 2.000 mm inside diameter;
•  Karibic automatic gully machines, for manufacturing manhole rings and tapers, gullies, traps and small-diameter concrete pipe;
•  Rotomat automatic base machines, for the semi-automatic and automatic production of monolithic manhole bases up to DN 1.200 mm and house inspection chambers; and
•  Ringblitz automatic seating ring machine to produce seating rings and similar products.
The company also has a wide range of moulds for the production of oil and water separator tanks and large diameter pipes of special design, such as egg-shape.
Established in 1980 in Blaubeuren, Germany, BFS – backed by the extensive experience of the Casagrande Impianti Division in engineering and delivery of turnkey plants for the manufacturing of concrete products such as pipes – offers the expertise and comprehensive know-how to build complex projects.
Founded in 1963 by Bruno Casagrande, Casagrande – which pioneered the development of drilling machines and equipment for the ground engineering industry – has become a group with interests in the precast concrete products market, in design and manufacture of machines and systems for the construction of pipes, piles and poles. Over the years, Casagrande has consolidated its position in the market, where it ranks today amongst the top three in its field of expertise, says the spokesman.
“The wealth of experience which Casagrande and BFS jointly offer is the biggest advantage the customers have, as they can rely on the competent advice and the cooperative spirit of a highly qualified team and a motivated sales force – right from the initial inquiry through to manufacture and supply of the machinery and equipment and to the customer-oriented after-sales service,” the spokesman concludes.
