Hawa, a leading supplier of high-quality, design-oriented sliding solutions for construction and furniture, continues to introduce innovative concepts and systems that seeks to revolutionise door hardware.

Switzerland-based Hawa, the internationally recognised specialist in designing innovative sliding hardware systems, has set up a subsidiary in Dubai – Hawa Middle East – in response to the construction boom in the region.
The move comes in line with Hawa's aim to boost its sales and distribution network in the UAE. Hawa Middle East will be in direct contact with local developers and architects, enabling the company to be involved in the design and decision-making processes from the start and provide innovative concepts.
“Customers and investors in the UAE value not only the quality of products made in Europe, but also the reliability and project structures of the European manufacturers,” says a spokesperson for Hawa.
She continues: “We export 80 per cent of our production, making us one of the world’s premium suppliers of high-quality, design-oriented sliding solutions for construction and furniture. Hawa customers around the globe enjoy the attention of a strong and competent dealer network.”
The company, which has over 40 years of experience, employs sales personnel in core markets who keep in close contact with the designers and fitters.
Product portfolio
Over the years, Hawa has inspired architects to design creative space concepts using its innovative systems for sliding and folding doors and walls, some of which can be stacked away to save space, she says.
“It holds more than 60 international patents, indicating just how resourceful Hawa technicians are when it comes to developing new hardware solutions. They bear witness to the inventive ingenuity of the company, which has only recently and for the first time developed an electronic control system for the Hawa-Frontslide 60/matic sliding shutter system,” the spokeswoman points out.
Many other inventions such as the patch suspension for sliding glass doors and walls known as Hawa-Junior GP, rattle-proof and noiseless floor guides, tried-and-tested slide-and-stop technology, suspension systems and tracks with especially low installation height and modular, plug-in track systems called Hawa-Variotec are some of technically-mature and durable sytems produced by Hawa.
“Sliding hardware systems can magically transform an environment in the blink of an eye. They create room in public spaces, at the workplace and at home, but also provide discretion and security. Fitters and designers appreciate the simplicity, ease of assembly and high functionality of the Hawa sliding hardware systems, which have made it popular worldwide,” she says.
Swiss finish
The hardware systems are manufactured to stringent standards from start to finish in Switzerland and carry the ‘made in Switzerland’ seal of quality. Sophisticated technology, well-equipped machinery outfit and a large storage warehouse enable the company to provide speedy delivery worldwide at market-driven prices.
EKU, which has been part of the Hawa group of companies since 1992, provides the sliding hardware and extension systems for furniture and interior design.
Hawa’s project portfolio includes some of the world's most prestigious buildings such as the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi, Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, the glazed Swiss Re-building in London and the Ikea showroom in Switzerland as well as shopping centres and banks.
The family-owned company based at Mettmenstetten, near Zurich is staffed by over 100 employees and has grown from strength to strength.
