Recruitment Focus

Charterhouse continues to expand

01 May 2006

Growth is a buzzword for Dubai-based Charterhouse as business continues to evolve and expand for this leading human resources (HR) and recruitment consultancy.

Since its inception two years ago, the consultancy has radically changed the recruitment sector in Dubai and is catering to an increasing number of clients wanting to partner with Charterhouse in order to hire the right professionals and achieve rapid business development, says Gregor Black, associate director.
“Charterhouse is now benchmarked in the market as a recruitment company which is setting the standards and subsequently reaping the rewards in a market where the demand for talented human resources is constantly on the rise,” he says. “Thorough work – combined with expert and experienced consultants under an open and motivational management structure – has provided the basis for Charterhouse to rise to the top.”
“We see our success in recruitment within the construction sector as a direct result of the standards we have set ourselves as recruiters. Our consultants are specialised in individual areas within the sector and all bring international experience with them,” Black explains. “We believe we now have an excellent combination of local market knowledge coupled with modern and developed recruitment practices.”
Charterhouse sees its Dubai operation as a launch pad for developing and establishing operations in new regional and international markets. Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Bahrain are among the new markets the company is targeting this year.
“This future growth will enhance the company’s reputation for excellence in service provision to clients and job-seekers in areas which now demand more sophisticated recruitment and search capabilities,” he points out.
Having the support and global exposure that the Charterhouse enjoys – being part of an international company – is also a huge bonus in a market that is candidate-focused, Black adds.
“Although we will continue to develop the disciplines that have made Charterhouse what it is today – excelling in construction and engineering, finance and banking, HR, legal, sales and marketing and professional support – we now have a specialist oil and gas consultant and our business will continue to diversify in line with the region’s economies,” he points out.
Involved at present with some of the region’s leading developers, project management, consulting and contracting companies, Charterhouse is proud of its existing client-base and recognises the importance of a strong client focus.
“It is very easy to get complacent in a market that is as buoyant as that of the UAE at present. One can take on too much work and be impersonal with servicing. However, maintaining a balance with the client’s requirements is an ongoing process,” Black continues.
“Working with all the facilities management or project management companies is not our objective – they seek similar candidates and the outcome will be that most will not receive the level of service they desire. As we continue to grow in size we would be able to bring on more clients. Our objective is to grow via design and not through market pressures or increased competition,” he concludes.
