DeWalt expands hammer range

01 October 2006

DeWalt has further expanded its comprehensive hammer and breaker range with the launch of a new 9 kg hammer that promises exceptional performance and low vibration.

“The new D25730K SDS-Max Combination Hammer comes complete with many highly innovative features and boasts some of the lowest vibration levels on the market,” says Suresh Srinivasan, product manager, Middle East & Africa, DeWalt Industrial Tools.
The new hammer is designed to meet the most demanding requirements of professional users and further demonstrates DeWalt’s commitment to providing tools that make its tasks faster, easier and safer, he adds.
Elaborating on its features, Srinivasan says: “The new D25730K has two patented revolutionary systems to reduce vibration and to increase comfort and productivity. These include:
· An innovative floating handle, which provides suspension between the back handle and the main unit. Hence, no matter where the unit is held along the handle, the reduction in vibration is constant, allowing users to use the tools safely over a significantly longer period of time without compromising performance; and
· A spring-loaded counterbalance mass, which moves in the opposite direction to the vibration, thus absorbing vibration before reaching the user hands. This system called AVC (Active Vibration Control) reduces vibrations in the unit by up to 30 per cent.”
The safety of the D25730K has been enhanced through the Complete Torque Control, which offers a patented two-step clutch system. On the lowest torque setting, the end-user can complete the majority of his applications in increased safety while the highest torque setting is perfect for core drilling and big diameter applications with solid bits, he says.
“Equipped with a 1,500 watt motor, the D25730K offers exceptional power and durability,” he says. “Boasting specifications such as 18 joules of impact energy and a BPM (blows per minute) of 2,300, the D25730K was designed for heavy-duty drilling. Ideal applications for this hammer would be drilling anchor and fixing holes from 24 to 52 mm in diameter into concrete, masonry and stone with solid bits and up to 150 mm with core bits. Furthermore, the D25730K can be utilised for demolition applications in concrete and stone.”
The new 9 kg hammer has been constructed in line with DeWalt’s focus on protecting the mechanism from dust ingress, dampening the rebound and developing a low vibration mechanism, thus ensuring the durability of its hammers.
The new hammer, which is now available, features a heavy-duty carrying case as standard.

Powerful screwdriver
Meanwhile, DeWalt have also launched an extremely compact, yet very powerful industrial cordless three-position screwdriver designed for driving screws and pilot drilling.
“The optimised working range for the new the DC600 is in lower power\speed applications where it is a priority not to damage the screw head or work piece or where it is critical not to over-tighten fixings,” says Srinivasan. “The two speeds on the unit are 200 and 600 rpm and its eight torque settings make it one of the most controllable and accurate screwdrivers available. It is ideally suited for electricians, plumbers, kitchen fitters and a host of other trades where control and accuracy are paramount.”
For user comfort, the handle can be locked in three different positions – inline, pistol or intermediate – maximising user comfort and enabling the user to reach the most awkward of areas in any working position, he says. The soft grip adds to the comfort along with the large, rapid actuation, paddle switch. It has a quick release 6.35 mm magnetic hex fitting chuck, which accepts all 6.35 mm hex bits, ensuring rapid bit change.
The DC600 has been ruggedly designed with a 40 mm metal gear case and all metal gears, which makes it not only very compact but very tough. For added durability, there is xenoy tool housing, tough enough for the professional workplace.
“There are two LED lights at the end of the unit that illuminate the working area. This is especially useful when working inside or under units where there is little or no light available. The lights are operated by an independent switch positioned so as to avoid accidental actuation,” says Srinivasan.
The tool is available with a 3.6v battery and a one-hour charger.
For almost 80 years, DeWalt has earned a reputation for designing, engineering and building tough industrial machinery. Its broad range of high performance ‘portable’ electric power tools and accessories have found acceptance by professional tradesmen worldwide, making it one of the fastest growing professional power tool brands in the world.
