Inma grows on inherent strengths

Leading supplier of construction equipment Inma rides the wave of the ongoing construction boom in the region through the timely supply of quality products and services.

Given the myriad projects that are currently using its diverse line of equipment – ranging from tower cranes, gensets, and demolition tools to crushers, screening plant and concrete batching plant – Inma (Gulf Development and Construction) says it can rightfully stake claim to being the leading one-stop shop for all construction needs.

From the Atlas Copco compressors and construction tools dotting the sites of major projects in the UAE including the prestigious Dubai Metro to the Liebherr tower cranes that stand tall at the Jumeirah Lake Towers project and at several other sites along the Sheikh Zayed Road; from the Flygt pumps at the Palm Jumeirah and many projects of Dubai Municipality, Department of Civil Aviation and at the Dubai Financial Centre to the Dynapac rollers at the Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali airport developments and various roadwork projects, all have one thing in common. They have all been supplied by Inma.
“Our greatest strength has been the ability to sustain the confidence of our wide network of clients, over the several years of our operations. In fact, some of them have been associated with us from year one! And this has been due to our professional and ethical business practices and hard work,” says a company spokesman.
Inma, established in 1972, has grown exponentially and is today a major player in the supply of the top global brands of light and heavy construction equipment to the booming industry in the UAE. It has a paid-up capital of more than Dh15 million ($4 million) and is still growing.
The brands it represents include: Alimak construction passenger and materials hoists, Atlas Copco construction and demolition tools and portable air compressors, Dynapac road construction and concrete equipment, Flygt submersible pumps, Liebherr tower cranes, Alimak hoists, Powerscreen mobile washing and screening plants, Sandvik crushing and screening plant, Stetter concrete batching plants and transit mixers and Thwaites construction site dumpers. And these are just some of the major agencies handled by Inma.
For the logistics industry, Inma offers products from Jungheinrich, Combilift and Haulotte, which provide a solution to every warehouse application.
With a large support structure based at its head office in Ramoul, Dubai, Inma has well-equipped service facilities and parts depots from where all equipment supplied to customers are attended to. To be closer to its wide clientele base, Inma has branch offices at Mussafah, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain – all with similar support facilities.
“But it is our factory-trained and experienced manpower that is our core strength, and many of our clients who have been dealing with us for several years, clearly recognise this advantage with Inma,” says the spokesman.
“Our personnel and the service facilities we extend, combined with the professional technical solutions we offer to our clients, are the key elements which sustain our stability and strength in the market,” he adds.
In a market rife with every possible known brand, efficient support from a local company is indeed a major factor to be considered. “Given today’s fast changing technical environment, knowledge and back-up available locally is a major plus point for any company. Add to this to the large availability of ready stock of equipment for a demanding construction industry in the country today, and you have an unbeatable combination”, says the Inma spokesman.
“We also offer and maintain a rental fleet of Liebherr tower cranes and Alimak hoists, besides offering brand new equipment and this is viewed as an extra service by the customers” he adds.
According to the spokesman, the trend towards rental is growing, particularly for the smaller items such as gensets and compressors. “This type of equipment, including compaction rollers, can remain idle on a site for fairly long periods, which is not cost-effective for a contractor owning the equipment,” he says.
“Generally, rental becomes the preferred option for shorter term projects,” he adds.
Inma has seen a significant increase in demand over the past two years for its equipment by rental companies modernising their fleet and introducing new lines such as generating sets to meet the rising demand.
Inma has an associate company in Oman, which has been in operation since 1975 and, recently, started operations in Qatar.
“Our core business is well defined, and our growth is always aimed towards progress in this direction,” he concludes.
