Rubber firm sales double overseas

01 January 2000

THE Dammam-based Zamil Rubber Products Factory has more than doubled its exports during the last five years.

The exports have risen from 26 per cent of the total sales in 1994 to a forecast 57 per cent in 1999, says a company spokesman.

The overseas markets include Middle Eastern states as well as European and African countries and some parts of the Far East.

The factory was set up in 1993 by the Al Zamil Group to meet the need for locally manufactured quality window sealing components capable of performing and lasting in the harsh Middle Eastern climate.

Zamil Rubber Products Factory manufactures components from synthetic elastomer, which is a mixture of ethylene propylene dyne monomer (EPDM) and is used for sealing structures against all weather conditions.

The wide variation in temperatures in the Middle East requires strict adherence to quality standards that match those achieved in Europe and the US.

The company has quality certification for its profile gaskets adhering to DIN 7863 and has also been awarded certification from Dow Corning on the compatibility of EPDM profiles with structural silicones.

The factory has also been awarded ISO 9001 certification for its systems and documentation sections, says the spokesman. The company is equipped with the latest German machinery, making it one of the most effective extrusion-vulcanisation installations in the world.
