DeWalt unveils new sander and saw

01 December 2006

DeWalt has launched a new palm grip random orbit sander with improved ergonomics and increased power and durability, as well as a heavy-duty circular saw designed for tradesmen and construction professionals.

The D26453 palm grip random orbit sander has a 280 W variable speed motor that delivers 14,000 to 24,000 orbits per minute with a variable speed range of 7,000 to 12,000 rpm.
“The sander provides a consistent finish and optimal removal rate,’’ says Suresh Srinivasan, product manager, Middle East and Africa, DeWalt Industrial Tools. “It has an exclusive controlled finishing system that mechanically controls pad speed and minimises material gouging during start-up. It offers a 2.4 mm orbit size that provides progressive removal of material. For increased durability, the D26453 features sophisticated motors, dust-sealed switches to prevent contamination as well as a wholly sealed ball bearing construction, which provides a longer tool life.’’
Also, the functionality of the random orbit has also been improved with an anti-slip top and body grip, which provides “ultimate comfort and control during use”.  A high-capacity dust bag with built-in extractor ports of all common sizes is included with each unit with the dust collected through the eight holes built into the pad of the sander.
Meanwhile, the new D26453 circular saw has extensive application areas that include cabinet making and installation, trim carpentry, furniture making, and custom window and door making. It features high power and speed being designed with powerful 1,150 W motor for heavy-duty applications. For fast and efficient cutting, the saw operates at 5,000 rpm, has a blade diameter of 184 mm, and comes with variable depth and angle adjustment.   Another feature of the circular saw is its efficient dust extraction port that minimises airborne dust particles when connected to an extractor unit, the spokesman says.
The D23620 is accompanied with an 18 tooth Series 30 saw blade, rip fence and blade spanner. “Compact, well balanced and easy to use with 65 mm of cut, it has a pressed steel shoe that makes the saws highly reliable and durable,” he says. “The gears and drive spindle are mounted in durable cast aluminum housing for extended life. Additionally, the new model has guiding notches at 90 and 45 degrees to give good cut line visibility and is designed with a large retraction lever for safe operation of lower guard.”
