Terex gears for growth in market

01 March 2007

Terex Construction (Coventry) – a company within the UK-based Terex Construction Division – has recently launched a new range of TC mini and midi excavators while renaming its mini-excavators so that they fit in with the new branding of the Terex heavy excavators from Terex Atlas launched last year.

“We see a major growth in mini-excavator sales over the next few years, as the known benefits of other Terex products – such as our market leading site dumpers and compaction rollers – is carried across into our other equipment. More and more customers are coming to see the benefits of owning a Terex excavator due to their superior design, quality and performance. As they are all manufactured in Germany the traditional values of quality German engineering can be seen by all,” says Adrian Hyde, marketing manager of the company.
Terex has an aggressive programme of continual improvement, ensuring brand awareness and model identification. It allows for greater consistency throughout the various Terex-owned manufacturing plants and a simplified product recognition for its customers. As part of this process all-current Terex Schaeff produced products have changed their nomenclature in line with the larger range of Terex excavator and wheeled loader products from January this year.
The new identification will consist of letters and numbers as follows: TC will represent Terex crawler excavator; TW will represent Terex wheeled excavator; TL will represent Terex wheeled loader. The number will represent either the operating weight (excavators) or shovel capacity (wheeled loading shovels). For example, TC 48 represents a crawler excavator with an operating weight of 4.8 tonnes while TL 80 represents a wheeled loader with a standard bucket capacity of 0.8 cu m.
The TC16, TC20, TC29, TC37, and TC48 each feature top-mounted boom lift rams for increased protection from damage, and the Knickmatic boom slew system which enables closer trenching to walls due to its unique design which stops the slew ram end from fouling obstacles at full slew. Many machines in the range also have the LUDV (Load independent flow distribution) hydraulic system, which enables superb multi-functioning without any loss of performance, says the spokesman.
Terex Construction manufactures a wide range of compact construction equipment including backhoe loaders, compaction rollers, and the UK’s leading brand of site dumpers.
