Kale launches new design collections

01 April 2007

The Kale Group, which last year launched a new-generation porcelain ceramic slab called Kalesinterflex, has now introduced two brand new design collections, expanding the line which is offered in a choice of 15 different colours on two different surface options.

“The patterned surface of Kalesinterflex will add an aesthetic touch and an air of elegance to every project it is used in,” says a spokesman for the Turkey-based group.
“Kalesinterflex is the first and only porcelain ceramic slab produced in Turkey that uses a breakthrough, environmentally-friendly technology,” he continues. “Offered in the dimensions of 100 by 300 cm and a thickness of only 3 mm, Kalesinterflex’s unique dimensions and product features make it a new-generation product for the construction industry.
The material can easily be drilled and cut into any desired dimension. Other outstanding product features include its versatility, fire resistance and light weight which render it for interior and exterior applications such as conventional wall and floor coverings, raised floors, suspended ceilings, partition panels, curved applications, office and kitchen furniture, doors and wardrobes, heating systems, ship and modular constructions.
It can also be used for a wide range of commercial and industrial applications such as industrial structures and refrigeration depots, and in constructions where hygiene is of primary importance, for covering the interior surfaces of tunnels and underground tube-stations, for modular construction such as earthquake-resistant constructions built with a high-quality light steel and load-bearing framework.
“The slab adds a new perspective to architecture and interiors, allowing new ideas to be put into practice and create modern living spaces,”  says the spokesman.
These slabs can be tailor-made and cut to any required size for specialised projects with custom sizes usually ranging from 100 by 300 cm, 100 by 100 cm, 50 by 150 cm, 50 by 100 cm, 50 by 50 cm and 5 by 100 cm.
Kalesinterflex is manufactured through an environmentally-friendly process using clay, kaolin and feldspar. “Compared to traditional ceramic production, the gas and dust emissions are 20 times lower and CO2 emission almost 1,000 times lower,” he says.
“This one-of-a-kind product has a thickness of 3 mm, which contributes to its flexibility, lightweight and manoeuvrability. A single Kalesinterflex slab, which measures 100 cm by 300 cm, weighs approximately only 21 kg and has a flexibility radius of 5.5 mm.
Totally fire-resistant and non-flammable, the tiles can be cut with standard glass and ceramic cutters as well as computer-controlled automatic cutting machines and drilled with glass drills as well as with other popular automatic drilling devices.
Elaborating on its properties he says: “Kalesinterflex is versatile enough to be used for a wide range of interior decorating purposes. Owing to its smooth surface, the tiles can be cleaned easily with water and conventional cleaning agents.
“The Kale Group’s brands in the ceramic sector such as the Çanakkale Seramik, Kalebodur and the Kalevit ranges of sanitary ware, bathroom cabinets and acrylic bathtubs are fast developing into global brands in select markets,” says the spokesman.
The company’s portfolio also includes a variety of wall and floor ceramic tiles, decor and accessory pieces, porcelain tiles, Kalestone pool tiles and accessories, clinker anti-acid tiles and facade construction systems and the Carena range, which is a collection of Turkey’s authentic natural marble, travertine and stones formed into collections of mosaics, tiles and decorations.
Established in Turkey in 1957 with the opening of its first ceramic tile factory, the Kale Group currently holds a key position in the world’s building industries business, with 25 affiliate companies, each a leader in its own sector.
