Oscam, a leading Italian manufacturer of machinery, plant and software to process concrete reinforcement both in the form of rebar and coils, is currently supplying its cut-and-bend machinery to a number of clients in the region.

“One of our company’s primary clients is Abu Dhabi-based Cicon Building Materials, whose cut and bend division is one of the largest in the world,” says Anna Rizzi, a spokesperson for Oscam, which has established a strong presence in the Gulf countries over a period of 40 years.
Cicon, which has a current capacity of 50,000 tonnes per month (tpm) of cut-and-bend rebar, is set to opening its fourth factory in Abu Dhabi which will boost its capacity to 70,000 tpm.
“Having started a cut and bend division over 13 years ago, Cicon has, since then, chosen our range of machinery for its factories, including the first factory and then a bigger one – both in Abu Dhabi – followed by one more in Dubai which supplies steel for the Red Line of the prestigious Dubai Metro project,” she adds.
Established in 1968 in Abu Dhabi, Cicon Building Materials is currently one of the leading building materials importers, stockists and distributors in the UAE.
The company has an impressive project portfolio that includes projects ranging from small villas to giant public works, with its strengths being large projects like the Dubai Metro, airports, bridges and tunnels, power stations, desalination plants, residential and office towers, hotels, mosques, car-parks and petrochemical plants among others.
With Cicon and Oscam both being leaders in their fields, their work together in the UAE is a real success story, according to Rizzi.
Oscam claims to be the first in the world to have patented and produced automatic rebar machines. Established in 1938, with its head office and production facilities in Torino, Italy, the company is a leader in its domestic market and its machines are the preferred choice in countries around the globe, due to their high reliability, durability, increased output, user-friendly simplicity and ease of operator movement from one machine to another, she says.
Over the past years, the company has produced thousands of machines that meet the most unusual requirements from companies worldwide as well as for particular jobs or special environmental conditions such as working underground.
