Hyster reaches greater heights

01 December 2007

The UK-based Hyster, a leading global manufacturer of materials handling and warehouse equipment, has launched a new taller and stronger mast option to allow the Matrix reach truck to service the top shelves in warehouses.

“The increasing cost of land at strategic sites has resulted in a growing trend towards taller warehouses. This has led to an increase in the demand for higher and stronger warehouse equipment.  As a response to this growing market need, we launched the new VNA range last year and have now introduced new mast options for our reach trucks,” explains Robert O'Donoghue, Hyster’s general manager for warehouse products.
The Hyster reach trucks are versatile, reliable and very manoeuvrable, with both 180-degree and 360-degree progressive steering available, allowing seamless change in travel direction. This is complemented by powerful acceleration, and in-built speed reduction on cornering. Over the last five years, the Hyster Matrix reach truck has provided more than 1,000 customers with the optimum solution for narrow aisle operations, he says.
Intensive development has enabled Hyster to complement the existing series with a new option including a stronger, taller mast option. This provides the stability and control required for placing heavy pallets at heights of up to 12 m, allowing major customers to manage the warehouse in a more uniform way.
“With the taller trucks, we have always had to overcome gravity, visibility issues and apply strict safety features particularly relating to stability. Some of the technology and findings from the development of Hyster’s new VNA series have been applied to the Matrix stronger and taller mast option.  It means customers do not have to worry about where goods are placed.  Heavier items can be safely lifted to any pallet location with a Hyster reach truck,” O’Donoghue adds.
There are nine models in Hyster’s Matrix reach truck range, up to 2,500 kg, all designed to achieve maximum efficiency and productivity from the operator through comfort features such as suspension seating and adjustable steering, programmable performance and finger-touch simple and precise controls.
The Matrix is built to last with easy service access and on-board diagnostics, helping reduce life-time service costs, resulting in a dependable product for a variety of applications, he concludes.
Hyster offer over 140 models of counterbalance trucks, warehouse equipment, container handling and reach stack products, which are provided through a network of strong local partners. The company invests heavily in research and development to ensure that its products are at the forefront, providing maximum dependability and the lowest cost of ownership for demanding operations.
