Faba to promote Shaw Almex presses

01 January 2008

Bahrain-based FaBa Commer-cial Services has been appointed as the partner of Shaw Almex Europe in the Gulf countries and is now actively promoting the company’s vulcanising presses for rubber and PVC conveyor belting systems.

Shaw Almex is a global leader in the production and marketing of Almex vulcanising presses, which have been used in major mining, cement and other bulk handling industry sectors around the globe for more than 45 years. FaBa and Almex jointly exhibited at the Big 5 show in Dubai last November, where the client interest was overwhelming for these high-quality and cost-effective splices and vulcanising presses,” says a spokesperson for FaBa Commercial Services, which specialises in marketing material handling products.
With production facilities in Canada, India and China and sales offices in Europe, Australia and South America, Almex is well equipped to give local support to its users and distributors worldwide. This partnership with FaBa is a major step in providing the same quality level of service and support in the booming industrial sector of the Gulf. It will also certainly contribute to increasing the popularity of hot splicing of conveyor belts in the Gulf countries, he adds.
Almex vulcanising presses are all equipped with the unique pressure bag system which in combination with flexible heating elements and cooling plates guarantees equal pressure and temperature at every spot of the splice area. Additionally, all Almex vulcanising presses are supplied with a water-cooling system. All these features result in faster and stronger conveyor belt splices, with a standard fabric belt splice done in only 45 minutes, thereby reducing downtime significantly.
Special aluminium alloys are used in the Almex presses in order to reduce the weight to a minimum and make them more user-friendly. The product design and features of the Almex range meets all the required international safety regulations and provides a wide variety of applications, belt width, splice length and pressure. The world strongest conveyer belt (ST7800) in Chile – featuring a 8,900 mm splice length and 2,000 mm belt – was joined by the largest Almex mobile press.
“FaBa is fully equipped to provide customers with a guarantee of a complete solution for all conveying issues and have an in-house service team that can repair and maintain the conveyer belts at the customer sites throughout the Gulf. We also have an emergency belt repair system that can be installed at an average rate of an hour per meter. It does not require any tools apart from a battery-operated drilling machine.  This saves the user the downtime as it can be used to repair damaged belts,” the spokesman says.
FaBa Commercial Services markets its products and services through selected distributors and representatives throughout the Middle East. With a focus on providing prompt and reliable service to its clients, the company’s product portfolio includes anti-wear, corrosion and abrasion-resistant and noise-abating coating systems, conveyor belt components and accessories including splicing and repair equipment, rollers for the steel and aluminum industry, Graco spray equipment and fully automated parking systems.
