Abu Dhabi will invite bids for the first phase of the Dh1.5 billion ($408 million) Shuweihat power and desalination project in mid-February, according to Abdullah Al-Naimi, director of privatisation at Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (Adwea).

Oman's Tender Board has approved a shortlist of companies prequalified to bid for berths and civil works for a new port and fishing harbour in Sohar.The port will now cost 40 per cent less than the earlier announced RO96 million ($250 million), said a project official. The Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has signed a management agreement with the UAE-based Al Jaber Group to operate a new deluxe hotel under development in Dubai.The Shangri-La hotel, currently under development, will feature 300 guestrooms and suites and approximately 110 service apartments.

UAE Minister of Public Works and Housing Rakad bin Salem bin Hamad bin Rakad has signed a number of contracts for maintenance, upgrading and expansion of roads and bridges, including Al Dhaid-Madam Road, Fili Link Road and Masfout Link Road worth a total of Dh24.4 million ($6.6 million).
