Despite the slump in oil prices, Bahrain is pushing ahead with its key projects, which in 2016 could spell good news for the aviation and hospitality sectors, says DHUSHIYANTHI RAVI.

Despite the global oil slump, Bahrain’s Ministry of Works (MoW) is pressing ahead with projects in the roads infrastructure, education, healthcare and sanitation sectors. Amongst the main road network developments is the Muharraq Ring Road. The BD5.06-million ($13.






A major project on the anvil at Bahrain’s Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning is Phase Two of the Muharraq Ring Road and the fourth Manama-Muharraq Crossing Project.






Construction work is set to begin shortly on Marassi Al Bahrain, a luxury waterfront development at Diyar Al Muharraq off the northern shores of Bahrain’s Muharraq island. The premier ‘smart city’ will offer luxury homes, high-end shopping, and business, leisure and entertainment facilities.






As it marks the 10th anniversary of its launch, Bahrain Bay is gearing up to attract further investors with many landmarks of the premier waterfront real estate development in Bahrain already completed and others due for completion this year.






Bahrain’s latest family shopping and recreation destination is set to open its doors next month (February) in the upmarket Zinj area of Manama. Galleria, constructed by Dadabhai Construction, will offer a first-of-its-kind retail and dining experience in Bahrain, says its developer Dadabhai Group’s MD Holding Company.






A $100-million project that has created Bahrain’s own Chinatown was inaugurated at the end of last month (December 27, 2015).






The Gravity Indoor Skydiving centre at Wasmiya is among the unusual construction projects that have recently been shaped using formwork solutions from Paschal Concrete Forms, one of the leading suppliers of modern systems to the GCC’s construction industry.






United Façade Design and Services (UFDS) is setting up a first-of-its-kind independent testing facility in Bahrain for building materials and façade systems. UFDS, which was set up last year, has been offering mobile and onsite testing services in the country.






Bahrain Aluminium Extrusion Company (Balexco) is running at high capacity to meet local and international demand of extrusions designed for various industrial and architectural applications. The aluminium extrusion pioneer has a production capacity of 33,000 tonnes per annum (tpa), coming a long way from its initial humble 6,000 capacity.






Tata Daewoo has, through its local distributor Motorcity, launched a range of new medium- and heavy-duty Daewoo Trucks in Bahrain to cater to the growing demand for the Korean brand. Motorcity is a key distributor of passenger and commercial vehicle brands in the country.
