KFH to offer vocational training to students

Manama, July 4, 2012

Seven trainees have recently been accepted for vocational training at Kuwait Finance House-Bahrain (KFH-Bahrain) under the structured workplace learning programme ‘Takween’.

Hosted by the Ministry of Education, the programme focuses on providing both academic and hands-on experience relevant to job training, for secondary school students, a statement from KFH said.

Abdulhakeem Alkhayyat, managing director & CEO, KFH-Bahrain, said: 'As part of our commitment to the Kingdom of Bahrain’s 2030 vision for educational reforms, and in order to equip the nation’s youth with the skills and capacities to succeed in life and at work, we are pleased to receive a new batch of trainees and to continue our support for the Ministry of Education Takween programme.”

Takween, which means ‘development’, ensures that secondary level school students receive the relevant organisational training needed for them to succeed in today’s job market.

The programme uses logbooks that the students are required to complete while on the job. Each logbook provides the basis of a training plan for the type of activities the student would be expected to complete while in the workplace. The tasks identified in it focus on developing skills that are required of all employees in today’s labour market, the statement said.

A new batch of trainees consisting seven students from Al Hoora Secondary Girls School will receive training during a three-week programme conducted at various KFH-Bahrain branches across the kingdom. The students will be exposed to the day-to-day business of the bank and learn how the organisation runs.

Sattam Algosaibi, executive manager and head of corporate finance and human resources, KFH-Bahrain, said: “The rigorous schedule requires the students to complete designated tasks as assigned by their workplace supervisors and described in their logbooks.”

“The logbooks are designed to assist students in developing their skills and knowledge in a workplace environment.”

'Activities include fulfilling all the company’s occupational health and safety requirements in addition to other tasks. On completion all students are also required to undertake set tasks and their knowledge will be assessed against the general work-related skills contained in their logbooks.' he concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
