DPM to discuss sustained urban growth at top UAE events
ABU DHABI, October 3, 2019
The Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities (DPM) will drive discussions on its strategic role in sustainable urban growth at some of the UAE’s leading events next week.
During the course of the week, the DPM will address a series of topics related to urban growth at the Arab Ministerial Forum for Housing and Urban Development and the World Road Congress which opens in Abu Dhabi next week, said its Chairman Falah Al Ahbabi.
"Cities are transforming their urban growth strategies to include cultural diversity and innovation," he stated.
"The opportunity to participate in these large-scale events will give DPM an opportunity to discuss concepts and ideas on solutions for the urban development challenges faced in the region and across the world," he added.
At the Arab Ministerial Forum for Housing and Urban Development, taking place from October 6 to 8, the focus will be on Complete Sustainable Communities (CSCs) and a presentation of the World Urban Forum (WUF10) agenda.
The WUF10 will be held in Abu Dhabi in 2020, which will be the first time an Arab country will host the landmark conference.
The Arab Ministerial Forum aligns perfectly with the DPM and the WUF10 themes, with topics that discuss the Arab League’s Housing and Sustainable Urban Development 2030 Agenda and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
CSCs is a DPM initiative designed to facilitate continued growth and development, while achieving happiness and an enhanced quality of life for residents.
At the upcoming World Road Congress, the DPM’s theme will be Planning Ahead and the benefits of connecting infrastructure and intelligent transport systems into urban planning.
This event will enable multilateral talks towards a more comprehensive understanding of road, infrastructure and surface transport networks, which will assist the DPM in future planning for infrastructure and consolidated urban development strategies.
Through its active participation at these events, the DPM aims to make advancements in the initiatives and programs it is developing.-TradeArabia News Service
