Top firms unveil GenNext engines at Middle East Energy

While the world moves between Generation Y and Generation Z, it was a case of power generation to the fore as Middle East Energy 2020, the 45th edition of the global energy platform, drew to a close on March 5 at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), setting the future of energy in motion with industry heavyweights unveiling next-generation engines that will help meet growing global energy demand.
Middle East Energy, held under the patronage of Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed vin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Deputy Ruler, will be back with its 46th edition next year from March 22 to 24, said the organisers.
Amongst more than 1,100 energy sector players from over 130 countries displaying the latest solutions for a sector in rapid transition, manufacturers proudly flexed their engine muscle at the three-day event hosted by the UAE Ministry of Energy.
Here is a five-star line-up of game-changing efficient engines that caught the eye at Middle East Energy this week.
*Volvo Penta unveils new D8 genset engine
Volvo Penta, a global supplier of premium power solutions, used Middle East Energy to unveil the latest addition to an already strong product portfolio, with the launch of the new D8 Stage II and Stage IIIA/Tier 3 power generation engine.
The mega 8-litre engine made its trade show debut in Dubai. The new addition delivers industry-leading power density with a compact design for its power class, with lower fuel consumption and reduced noise levels.
*Efficiency and environment awareness from Perkins
The 2806A-E18TTAG is a series turbocharged and air-to-air charge cooled, 6-cylinder diesel engine with 18 litres capacity from Perkins, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of diesel and gas engines. Its premium features provide economic and durable operation, low emissions and advanced overall performance and reliability.
*From Russia with power – and little noise
With a projected lifetime of 30,000 hours, the YMZ 5368-20 is an eco-friendly diesel engine from GAZ, Russia’s top producer of commercial vehicles, which is both highly reliable and fuel-efficient.
Its advanced design allows for not only a low-cost ownership, but the engine also produces reduced noise levels and vibration.
*The new Kohler-SDMO positioning themselves as one of the best energy suppliers in the industry
As the third largest player in the global the market, Kohler-SDMO knows its way around engines and now designs its own generating set engines.
Unveiling its latest model – the KD 3500, an engine with high power density has achieved full management of the production cycle to the highest possible standard while continuously proving their reliability in the quality of the energy supplied in transitory systems.
*Kangwo Power’s K16T diesel engine holds a strong presence
Chinese powerhouse Kangwo Power pulled the covers off its latest creation, this six-cylinder diesel engine that comes with an electric pump control unit and is installed with an alloy cast cylinder head.
The K16T is a supercharger with large flow and high-pressure ratio and its improved rotating speed of the water pump enhances the reliability of the cooling system.
