Caparol Arabia's new paint to help fight coronavirus

DUBAI, August 4, 2020

Caparol Arabia, the Middle East arm of top German paint manufacturer, has announced that it has successfully tested CapaCare Protect - its flagship product being used in commercial and residential projects besides hospitals and schools across the Middle East - to demonstrate its use in the fight against coronavirus.

The tests were conducted in the US and proved the efficacity of the solution in curbing the spread of coronavirus and other microbes. These tests follow the successful launch of the product in the UAE market in April, said the company in a statement.

The premium interior emulsion CapaCare Protect is the only paint in the region with 99.9% kill rate against human coronavirus and H1N1 influenzae A, it stated.

The reports were tested as per American and Japanese standards in two independent ISO 17025 laboratories in USA, approved and accredited by the International Antimicrobial Council, it added.

Managing Director Martin Rosocha said: "Caparol Arabia is committed to developing eco-friendly solutions that contribute to comfortable living, healthier and more energy efficient spaces. Since the beginning of the pandemic, our expert solutions team have joined the fight against the virus with the introduction of CapaCare Protect, a premium anti-microbial paint suited for homes, hospitals, clinics and day-care centers."

"These efforts paid off and we have now proved that we have a solid  solution that can effectively kill 99.9% of coronavirus particles. This is a ground-breaking development and we are delighted to now make the paint available across the region to secure and protect the walls of as many residents as we can," noted Rosocha.

"CapaCare Protect is manufactured in  our production plant in the UAE and has already been  used over the past three months on various projects including commercial, residential areas, hospitals and schools. The demand for the product is on the rise and its production is expected to further increase following the news around positive tests to combat coronavirus," he stated.

According to global real estate advisors Savills, the Middle East has seen an impressive rise in the number of construction projects over the past decade, and this number is only set to increase with close to $2 trillion worth of projects planned and in the pipeline in the region.

In this context, modern methods of construction and the solutions employed will play a vital role in ensuring the sustainable development of our cities, it added.

Commercial Director Mowaffaq Balish said: "Ultimately, Caparol wants to play a key role in supporting the positive development of the region and reflect governmental shift towards a green economy."

"We are seeing more and more developers keen to make projects more efficient and sustainable. There’s a real opportunity to help them improve the performance and safety of their buildings and enhance the experience of residents with our innovative solutions," he added.

Caparol offers over 125 years of global experience and has been family-owned for five generations.
The brand was founded in Germany with the invention of emulsion paint technology, which transformed the way people painted buildings and homes.

Caparol Arabia was established in 1999 in Dubai and is part of global company DAW, which has 6,000 employees and is present in over 40 countries.-TradeArabia News Service
