Egypt eyes deal with Bechtel on $5bn Cairo Metro Line 6
CAIRO, December 2, 2020
Egypt is in talks with Bechtel, a global leader in engineering, procurement and construction, for the implementation of the $5-billion Cairo Metro Line 6, and is likely to soon sign an agreement, reported Reuters, citing the transport minister Kamel Al Wazir.
"We are working on a MoU with Bechtel for feasibility studies and implementation of the 30-km long Metro Line 6. We told them to submit a written offer. If we reach agreement we will begin working at once and expedite all the contracts and agreements," said Wazir.
Egyptian government has already lined up finance for the metro line from Canada, America, Britain, France and Japan, as the country races ahead with the plans for an expansion of its metro and railway networks, he added.
