Bahrain announces official opening of major interchange

Bahrain has announced the official opening of the interchange at Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman highway and Isa bin Salman highway, one of the key infrastructure development projects in the kingdom, reported BNA.
The interchange is one of Bahrain's key infrastructure development projects, which aims to expand the kingdom's main road network and develop first-class infrastructure across Bahrain, said the report.
Speaking at the official opening, HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister said Bahrain was commited to sustainable urban development that yields real community benefits, creates new economic opportunities, and facilitates traffic flow.
HRH underlined the economic benefits an advanced road network system brings towards bolstering economic productivity, in line with the vision of His Majesty the King.
Later, Prince Salman was briefed by Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalif, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Development Projects and Infrastructure, on the interchange, at Riffa Palace, said the BNA report.
The project includes the construction of an overpass with two lanes to increase traffic flow etween North Manama, Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman highway, and Riffa and Isa Town East via Shaikh Isa bin Salman Street.
Also the five-lane expansion of Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway, is taking place on both sides of the highway next to Shaikh Isa bin Salman highway and Budaiya, it added.
