Limak starts training programme for Kuwaiti female engineers
KUWAIT CITY, June 12, 2021
Limak Inşaat Kuwait, a subsidiary of leading Turkish builder Limak Holding, has announced that the fourth generation of its training programme for female engineers kicked off last month.
Aimed at empowering female engineers and equipping them with the tools necessary to succeed in their future careers, the Kuwait’s Engineer Girls programme this year is being implemented virtually and under the support of Kuwait’s Ministry of Youth Affairs.
Over 150 guests attended the virtual kick-off ceremony to congratulate the 30 female engineers on their appointment to the programme, including key representatives from Limak, Kuwait’s Ministry of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Public Works, Kuwait University and Turkey’s Boğaziçi University.
Accofrding to Limak, this year’s edition falls within the framework of the fourth edition of the Job Creators programme by the Minister of Youth Affairs Office, and is included in the development plan.
The Head of the Job Creator Team Dr Hashem Al Tabtabaei, expressed his happiness at the launch of this year’s edition of the program which aims to cultivate job opportunities for Kuwaiti youth.
"This year’s cohort differs from previous editions as the company takes on fresh engineering graduates instead of students," he stated.
"Participants are required to be fresh engineering graduates with no more than three-and-a-half years passed since their graduation, while their age should not exceed 27 years at registration," he added.
The ‘Kuwait’s Engineer Girls’ programme consists of 200 training hours divided into nine modules that feature workshops and seminars delivered by professors and specialists from Turkey’s Boğaziçi University and Limak Inşaat, in addition to field training and social distanced site visits to Limak’s projects in Kuwait, including the Kuwait International Airport New Terminal 2 (T2).
This term, due to limitations caused by the pandemic, Limak has adjusted the programme’s components to conduct a majority of the classes online and partially in-person following social distancing and safety regulations set by the Ministry of Health and other official governmental bodies in Kuwait.
The programme is divided into four main stages including:
*Foundation Courses: Organizational Behavior, Communication Skills, Leadership Business Environment and Innovation and Entrepreneurship
*Professional Courses: Management Finance, Investment and Finance Models for Engineers, New Trends in the World Economics and International Trade and Marketing
*Technical Courses: Project Planning and Change Management and Quality Engineering and Management
*Global Issues: Women Empowerment, Philanthropy and CSR Corporate Sustainability and Global Warming
The first cohort of the program (Generation I) was successfully completed in March 2018 with 24 graduates, the second cohort (Generation II) was completed in April 2019 with 30 graduates, and the third cohort (Generation III) was completed in December 2019 with 25 graduates.
Upon completion of the programme, successful participants received a Business Technology Education Council (BTEC) Management and Leadership certification recognized in over 100 countries worldwide, a Certificate from Boğaziçi University Lifelong Learning Center, and a Certificate of Field Training from Kuwait University.
Limak Inşaat Kuwait Country Manager Kayihan Bagdatli said: "We are pleased to announce the launch of the fourth cohort of our ‘Kuwait’s Engineer Girls’ programme, through which we value the ambitions of the aspiring female engineers despite restrictions enforced by the Covid-19 pandemic."
"Through this programme and the many others we support, our objective is to transform Kuwait’s youth into capable and qualified individuals prepared to create a positive, long-lasting impact on the world, and we will continue to work towards this objective regardless of what obstacles we may face," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
